*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

You can't speak ill of the game in this thread, you'll be torn limb from limb :p

Which planet did he live on again, Earth was it?

Recalibrating Deathstar now....

hehe, well I haven't had the good fortune of testing the the beta so I don't know if the game is fun or not. I've been looking forward to this and GW2, but with so many other MMo's that have shown promise then ultimately fail to deliver I'm more cautious shall we say.

maybe when we get more information and footage of PvP (when implemented) my interest might peak again!

I hear you on that one.

I'd just like MMO's to, for once, focus on that last letter, "G". It's supposed to be a game and yet, MMO's are so far behind features common in many games now.

That's because MMO's take so much longer to develop than normal games. Most games take ~2 years to develop, most MMO's take 5-6 maybe even more years to develop. Which means as soon as they come out they are already out of date in terms of technology.

If you want an MMO with the same features that are currently in many new games you will most likely have to wait another 5 or so years. It's just the way it has to be, us MMO players pay more but get far less in terms of technology in our games than all other gamers. Yet we keep coming back for more...What a strange bunch we are...

Well the download was over 30Gb and a fair bit has been left out of the beta including many of the high res textures, so close to 40Gb in entirely possible.

Thats was the last build at 27.5 GB there was a 30 GB d/l well certainly not up till 5 days ago when I was on it.

I found the game a massive disappointment, I hope that its better when playing with all your guildies but as a game ..I think even AoC was more fun to play.

Said this before but you wonder if the Dev's ever played a MMO ..and if they did ...they certainly missed the point.

This is very much a single player RPG with a chat box stuck on it, it has a very poor social side.

But I'm hoping that a) thats because it was still beta and b) they will take notice of what was side in 840 forums and make improvements for release.

Can you explain a bit more, why you found it a massive disappointment? What are the things you dont like etc? What toon did you play on beta?

I think you want to enjoy a game for yourself not just guildies?

erm no I Don't want to go into specifics, the game was just not much fun I played a JC into the high 40's a trooper to 24 and a sith to 17 and playing with a guild that is very social makes all games better.

If your fed up of the game and still got your beta account i'd be glad to take it off you :D

That's true.

However, GW2 recently said they're going to have secret passages (i.e walls you push against and they reveal a passage or mobs you lead into walls and they open up a passage). Now, this stuff is tbh quite basic, saw some of it well before this gen. Yet I can't really think of other MMO's that have got this type of functionality. This isn't a secret yipee GW2 post, this is a wtf took you so damned long post.

That said, beggars can't be choosers, so this upcoming crop of MMO's looks to move beyond the raid-centric gameplay and try some other features.

I asked on the official forum about preorder codes and whether I needed to replace my SE code with my new CE code in my account. This is the official answer that clears up a few other things around here e.g. early access -

I have received your transmission.

To be honest, there's no point in going to the trouble of registering the new codes on the new accounts you created.

You're already in line for Headstart with your original codes, and all you'll need to do at launch to get your bonus items is to tie the deluxe edition/Collectors Edition code to the account you've been using all along.

There won't be any problem caused by your pre-order codes being for a different edition.

Please do not be concerned if when going into the 'My Account' section the edition listed there is incorrect. When you receive your product code at launch and apply this to your account this will then grant you all relevant in-game items that are associated with the version that you have purchased.

I can promise you than the information we've given you on this is the most current available, we want all our players to have the best experience possible, and the least hassle possible in registering their codes - that's why there has been a change from our original position of asking people to create new accounts to register different codes.

I hope this addresses your concerns on this front!

I have received your transmission regarding your pre-order.

Thank you for contacting us regarding your pre-order question. Your first retailer is informing you that they will be deactivating the order in their data base, this does not mean that the pre-order code that you have entered on the swtor.com website will get canceled. Rest assured that this code will remain active on your account and you will still receive the crystal.

If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to contact us again.

READ THIS:

A pre-order code is a pre-order code is a pre-order code. All the same thing. The different pre-order codes were made to separate the head start. That's it. Since they're not doing that any more, it doesn't matter what pre-order code you put in.

These videos will explain everything about the pre-order codes & how the early access is going down:

Seems Justswtor has been closed down. That and BetaCake moving sites means I am getting rather bored without any beta pics/videos. Are there any more Swtor betaleak sites?
