*** Official Dead Island Thread ***

Pre-order is up on steam for £29.99 instead of £39.99 :o

I just saw you can get a key from CJS-CDKEYS for £21.50
anyone bought from them and have any feedback ?

Be careful, I have never bought anything from them but I have heard of Steam closing peoples accounts because they have activated a different region CD-key on their account (i.e. Russian).

Agreed. Although I feel I'm being overly critical here but my guy instinct tells me the combat looks repetitive and the gameplay formula has been cloned from anyone of three dozen games i.e. open world, go and fetch, kill, find type quests.

This is the problem with games today, most of the are same with a different skin. Dead Island, Far Cry 2, Assassins Creed, Fallout 3/New Vages etc, etc are pretty much the same game and its the reason why games like Total War, X, ARAM i.e PC exculsives are still around because they offer somthing different.

Which gameplay vid are you referring to Tefal?

From what I've seen this game looks to be shaping up nicely.

?

WHAT?

If that is all you have done, and no more, the worse what happens is that the game is removed from your account.

I'd like to see a proper zombie survival horror game based on this premise i.e. go on holiday, island ends up full of zombies, family get killed, try to find a way off the island. If they'd continued with the same tone they set out in the first trailer I'd be interested, especially if it was genuinely scary and made you care about the characters as the trailer did so effectively.

I don't see why we need another Dead Rising/Zombie Shoot-em-up game when the market's seriously lacking in proper survival horrors... Resident Evil ain't what it used to be leaving only Dead Space and a handful of indie titles to carry the torch :(

Why don't zombie games go for scary? None of them go for a genuinely dark, gritty, cautious atmosphere. They're all light-hearted and about bashing zombies heads in for fun. I want a zombie game with the same feel to it as the 28 days/weeks movies.

try dukus surival mod for l4d1 (think thats the right name)

basicaly only you no bots or people, no cross hair, mostly only your pistol not lots of guns or bats, hardly any ammo, oh and the zombies must be shot in the head or they wont die (hard with an inaccurate pistol and no crosshair).

but the zombies didnt just swarm you like the nomral game they were attracted by sound/movement /light so you tended to try and ninja throguh with your lgiht off and not kil lany as you snuk though.

one shot in the center of a large roo mcoul,d mean game over.

It's Doku. He's my bro and also responsible for this excellent Minecraft pack (worth watching just for the great Mana music):

I'm liking the look of Dead Island. As long as the zombies are slow and shambling and in their 100s, and with plenty to explore and do, it should be great fun with a few mates.
