Anyone miss,,,,,CRT?

This might seem odd with the move to slimmer, bigger and 'HD'd' as much as possible. But, Does anyone miss CRT monitors?

I know they were heavy and bulky but there was something about them I prefer over TFT/LCD and I can't put my finger on what it is.

I miss the heat they used to put out. It was great in the winter, now I have a Benq which literally doesn't get warm let alone hot. I wouldn't go back though.

Despite the heat, power and size - yes. Kinda sad they didn't keep a niche market but I guess the production costs would have negated any profit.

If I missed it I'd go up to loft and get it. I'd happily sacrifice it's benefits to have the desk space.

When it was a decision between a 15" LCD and a 20" CRT for games, no choice. Different today.

Other than the ability to run at any res and not have it go blurry whilst maintaining fullscreen, nope, not a bit!

I just sold a fw/900 24" crt. For a fiver. That is probably the only crt i could sell. Any other crt cant even be given away.

I had one up until 2007. 20" I believe it was, no idea on the other specs as I didn't keep up with that back then. When I first got this 24" LCD, that I'm still on, I missed the one feature others have pointed out, but as said things have changed and I'm looking forward to upgrading to a 30" in another year or two and never look back.

The only good thing about my old 21" CRTs was watching the cats asleep on top of them. One of them tried it with my first LCD screen but it didn't end well...

I still think LCD panels lack a lot of the image quality that CRT have. I'm not an expert, but the colour reproduction seems more faithful and the image is a lot more fluid. Plus, every resolution looks good and nice high refresh rates.

I agree.

Using a CRT gave me one heck of a headache after a while. Once I moved to my first TFT, no more headaches.

I actually got hold of a CRT TV for my retro consoles because they looked rubbish on any TFT.

I miss the refresh rate and never-ever flickerness of them! Although must admit I don't miss the size, screen glare or weight.

I remember having to carry e-macs around schools, good god they were awkward to move.

You sold a FW900 for £5 Was it in poor condition? If not you got robbed blind.

I've yet to see an lcd that comes close to matching my FW900 for gaming - especially in fps in which it's leagues ahead. I'll be waiting for OLED before changing tech.
