*****Official Star Wars: The Old Republic Thread*****

erm no but a high percentage. added... very few say the game is sh!t but most say its not worth getting as it is now. not enough quests, no end game content to speak of, this added to everything else I have already said.

Of course it’s not worth getting now as its not ready?? We still have +-3 to 4months to go. We also know that there is no end game content on the beta and there will be once the game has been released. People say they ran out of quests on Rift too, I never had this problem at all. I guess people are skipping quests hubs and levelling areas.

The purpose of Squadron 840B's game testing period was not to test end game content, as such, most of the end game content was not implemented.
In addition, some of the later level zones were incomplete. Which is where most of the "Not enough quests" crying is coming from.

Why certain people find that so difficult is beyond me.

Just take a step back, breathe, and try to take this in...The game isn't finished yet.

You miss my point about the guild size as I know its means zip when the game comes out..the point of the guild size was that I speak to tons of other players so have a good view of how others see the game.

And more to the point I have seen from having well over a 100 active players to it dropping down to 10/15 with he rest logging in once a week or so.

This guild has nothing to do with the actual guild I run as no one besides a few who joined from the beta guild are in my proper guild. (if that makes sense :D)

Totally get your point dude. Like I said, we had a similar thing back in beta. I guess that was the main reason behind having such a big league. See what others thought of the game and whether they would get it come launch. See who played the game really well and you would want them in your league/guild at live launch.

I guess it's still all about trial and error even with the people you play. Ah, fun times. :D

If you say so ...tho its funny how many times we hear that it just about polish now and the game is complete.

This I agree with mainly because I did not run out of quests. tho I now have covered all the end game planets .. and they small.

I think a lot of people that were on about end game were the players who rushed' and if you miss a lot of the group quests (not flash-points) it can cost you a lot of XP.

I have to admit, there's still a ton of quests I haven't done in DCUO. But I am not that hardcore like some players. I like to take my time. Yes, levelling is important, but as you say, you do miss certain things whilst rushing to get the max level. Plus, I mainly raid with my league and do the odd, duo or hard alert and other challenges if nothing else is going on.

But after hitting max level, there is still so many things to do. People should just take their time to enjoy the game and enjoy the quests (however boring they may be) as best as possible. It's no wonder many people switch from MMO to MMO and expecting something new and different and yet still disappointed and complain it's the same as the last MMO they played.

Please show me where I said I hate the game, I said its not near as good as it could have being and no different from 20 other mmo's out there... somewhere in your very closed fanboi mind you take what I say and turn it into me hating the game .. typical.

Should add I have the biggest guild in the beta right now ... well it was the last time I logged in but have not logged in for well over a week now. (I would say about 60% of the player base(republic)) is in this guild.

Well you certainly seem to dislike it based on all the comments you have posted here. Your best defense is that I am a "fanboi"? I have just disagreed with a number of your points. If you read the thread, you will see that

a) I have posted plenty of stuff from the beta - both images and user reviews from the beta forum
b) I neither love nor hate this game, have simply provided my opinion and have disagreed with some of your comments. If that makes me a "fanboi", then I guess I am one.

I agree that in no way does this game break the usual MMO mould - but I completely disagree that only "10%" of the levelling is story based.

This tbh. While I am sick of the beta excuse, this is a playtest, NOT a beta. The devs have said a number of times on the beta forum that not everything is in the playtest (yet).

ah ok, thought I couldn’t see it!

so in a nutshell everybody posting under that topic, is saying the game is ****?

It is very mixed, and has been since day one. If you look at the player reviews I posted a while back, it sums it up well - what TOR does well, it does REALLY well. Equally, what it does badly it does REALLY badly. I just hope they listen to the community - at least there doesn't seem to be a rush to get it out the door yet.

There is nothing new in this game its just like 20 other mmo out there except its called Star Wars.

There is nothing new in GW2, it'll still be kill 10 rats, fedex quests and breadcrumb trails. That is the nature of MMO's

VO while this may be the first FULL VO thats does not make it unique ..its just means it takes u 5 times a long to pick up a quest.

Name me 1 more MMO that is entirely fully voiced?

The Combat ( except for the trooper and Jedi) is very stagnant ( only reason I add the Jedi is it has the combat leap which is fun for a bit)

I would hardly call it stagnant, if you play standing still pressing the same attack routine, then why is that the games fault?

So besides VO this game brings nothing new to the genre and a lot that it's copied is not done very well.

Do you have anything to back up this massive sweeping statement? Other then personal opinion.

As for the fabled story line thats about maybe at best 10% of your leveling experience the rest is the normal grind .. done even worse than wow/lotor.

Funny, because you have your story quest, world arc quests and generic quests per planet. Of course your story quests are going to be a small fraction of the experience. Take them all into consideration and don't abuse made up facts and label them as truths.

Good to hear that its mixed, if everybody was saying it perfect and it’s the best ever that would be more worrying I think.

I read most of your posting from other reviewers and yes it is a very mixed bag even the ones I have read on Betacake.

There is still a number of months to go before this comes out, let’s hope Bioware listen and sort these issues out. I can’t see them doing anything than just that!

I've been really happy with their attitude towards the feedback from the play-test I was involved in.

They jumped on the whole speeder is too slow and looks ugly as hell issue straight away. Modifying the speed and designing a load of new models.

They recently confirmed that SWTOR's landscapes have had a graphical overhaul aswell which is a bonus.

To be fair, that remains to be seen. So far they have said that GW2 wont have traditional quests of kill x number or fedex quests. Remains to be seen if its true, but lets remember its possible, after all, UO didnt have kill 10 rats, fedex quests or breadcrumb trails, so just goes to show that not every MMO has to follow the "nature of MMOs".

Yes I saw the interview with Dallas Dickenson about the speeders and also the graphical changes too.

More testing invites went out this week so good to see there is constant testing happening with lots of feedback to go with it.

Slowly getting there I think.

Never said it was .. dunno where u bring GW2 into this

Name me 1 more MMO that is entirely fully voiced?
again never said there was, but this does not make it a unique game

most of the skills u use do not allow you to move so doh!

Do you have anything to back up this massive sweeping statement? Other then personal opinion.
Well it all about personal opinions v just its great it great .. and its funny you said u were in beta did you not? (may have mixed you up with someone else) but if so you would know what I have posted here about this part has being repeated by 100's on the 840 forum.. but ofcourse we all stupid and know nothing.

Funny, because you have your story quest, world arc quests and generic quests per planet. Of course your story quests are going to be a small fraction of the experience. Take them all into consideration and don't abuse made up facts and label them as truths.
Erm where do you get the half truths from .. the questing is bloody boring its kill 10 x X then go back and get a new quest that takes you back over the same exact ground except a bit further, so you have to kill that 10x again plus all the other mobs that are around the 10 x to get to the new area kill the 15x there and it will then toss up a bonus quest .. guess what kill the same guys 50 times more for bonus XP wonderful.

Then guess what you have to do it all over again because they now popped something up even a bit further ..but the trick is this is your story arc so yup you have to kill them all again ...both ways.
And this is not just my opinion tho I may have gone a bit heavy here on how repetitive this is but there are tons of threads/posts saying the same thing on the forums.
And worse still except for the planets names the quests can be interchangeable you do not feel like you killing different mobs no matter which planet you on.

Added this:

One really painful thing is you often see new mobs spawning right on top of the dead ones..very annoying.

But on the other side of it, although space combat is a on rails shooter, I quite enjoyed it ...excpet that for some strange reason when u fly your ship the mouse cannot be inverted, it can for the rest of the game but defaults back when u do a space mission ... let me tell you I crashed into every bloody asteroid :p.

Personally yes this my opinion they should never have added space combat and could have done a proper space experience with the first full expansion pack. Think they missed a trick here!

Don’t think I ever had to kill rats in a mmo, flaming squirrels yes :D but not rats!

/yodavoice: You will be. YOU WILL BE!

He brought GW2 into it because I mentioned that I think will be playing that instead of this.

Don't get me wrong, if you look a fair few posts back in this thread you will see me bigging up this game and defending it like he is, but after watching some of the videos for GW2 and watching an hour long video of someone playing ToR I have changed my mind.

Am I allowed to do that?

Am I allowed to post in this thread now I don't like what I see?

Wanna add something else, even tho to some it may seem so I have no axe to grind with sw.tor, I had and still do have high hopes for this game, need a mmo that I can call home being a while since I have had this.

I'm just stating how I found the game, people can either take it on board or ignore it, I never started this conversation to get into a on line fight about it, and only reason I used this forum is that I find most of the people on here very mature and willing to debate something and not just do the usual fanboi comments you see on the sw.tor forum dragging everything down to a slanging match.
