Logitech been ripped off - to grass or not?

If you have suspicions, report him to Logitech and Ebay, and let them investigate as they see fit. Companies like Logitech deserve some support and loyalty.

Just dealt with Logitech Customer Support for the first time. They're sending out a replacement for my faulty mouse straight away. Great service. They did ask for a time-stamped pdf of proof of purchase though, so they must be tightening up.

I'd hate to see this wonderful system abused.

My mistake. I didn't realise that OPs on GD were taken as solid fact without any sort of evidence required. OcUK posters normally require pictures with hovis etc. before they believe anything.

I know exactly what you are saying, but people in terms of discussion normally take the OP to be a true and fair reflection of the issue. Or at worst, it's either the only bit of the story we are fed or is the OP's version of events... even then we can still only go on what we are told.

Be it 'I have a dog, what shall I call it' to 'my landlord humped my mrs'... it's all reliant upon us accepting to the story in faith and discussing it from then on in.

You'd happily allow your taxes to be spent on imprisoning a bloke for making a few hundred quid out of a mice and speaker scam? :o

That's merely conjecture from the OP - we are yet to see the full facts. But let's not let something daft like conclusive evidence get in the way of the the dailymail-esque knee jerk reaction of "he's obviously guilty and making loads of money every week, so chuck him in prison!"

You're not even arguing the same point here. In one post you're saying that the crime isn't severe so he shouldn't be sent to jail, and to make that point you assumed in that post that the OP was telling correct and offered your interpretation of that hypothetical situation. I merely implied that given the OP's information was correct, then the crime probably was quite severe. You then practically jumped down my throat, implying my post was 'dailymail-esque'. In doing so you changed your argument to saying that the OP's post was unreliable in the first place, which clearly isn't what was being discussed. I mean don't get me wrong, I agree with your point that the information possibly is wrong, but I was by no means arguing against that and I don't appreciate you trying to make a fool out of me like that (I tend to do a good enough job of that by myself thank you ;))

Haven't they always asked for proof of purchase? I had to RMA some speakers about a year ago and they wanted proof of purchase - easy enough to find for most orders online, but doubt I would ever find a receipt if I had bought it on the high street.

Processed my G15 with a picture of a hand written copy of the RMA number next to the KB/fault I logged. No POP necessary.

They didn't need anything from me at all. I phoned, said my mouse (g5) didn't work anymore, read out the number and they said "we'll post you a new one".

The scroll wheel was broken so you could only scroll down and not up.

The person selling the items isn't that smart. If it was me I would have shipped it with no paper work in a new box.

I don't think that would work. In order to ship it with no paperwork in a new box, he'd have to receive the item first. In order to do that, he'd have to submit multiple warranty claims to Logitech using his own address (ok so he can probably scatter them around a bit... work, home, associates address etc - but a finite number).

The whole point of this scam is that Logitech have no personal information on him. Every order he fulfills is using a different name and address, so Logitech won't pick it up. It also saves time because the goods are being shipped direct from Logitech to the buyer, rather than having to go via a middleman.

Depends, seems to differ. I had to cut off the USB connector and send them it to receive a new mouse (firmware update bricked it). Others have had to destroy it and post pictures.

Fingers crossed for some free goodies for a good deed done!

Did someone say FREE GOODIES?

We totally agree! Definitely a good deed done and the guys at Logitech think so too. To express their thanks i've been authorised to pass on a goody bag as a thank you from them!

So uhm, THANK YOU!! :D

Terrier_Jimlad There will be an email following shortly so you can provide us with postal details so we can get it sent out to you

in cases where you don't have it they ask for you to smash up your current one and send them pictures (with your name etc) showing it's unusable.

Fair enough I guess :)

Sounds from this thread that they need to tighten up the process *just a little* - hopefully not too much though!

When I got my kb replaced, I had no proof, no s/n and didn't ask for it to be shamshed, just sent me a new one.

Good for reporting the thieving Ba*****, Logitech, what is his Ebay ID, prehaps a few of use could stir up some grief for him.:D

And also well done to OcUK for part in this saga.
