Just got a HD 6870 pc wont boot

hi i just got the above mentioned graphics card, however my powersupply has 1 pici-e 6 pin connector it takes 2 it came with the connectors and i have to put 2 4 pin connectors into the adaptor and the end is a 6 pin pci-e connector the motherboard light comes on but the pc will not turn on.

If i unplug one of the pci-e connectors it starts but then i get a beeping noise and pc will not show anything.

It says min power is 500w for this card but i have a 600w powersupply its a Hiper 625w i believe black finish with mesh on the cables.

Motherboard: Asus M5A97 Pro
Ram: Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 1600mhz but runs at 1333mhz 2x4gb
CPU: AMD phenom II X2 555

I bet you it's the PSU. It may state 625w but Hiper PSUs are rubbish and there are many cases of it blowing up. I would buy a new PSU if that's possible, something like this: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-042-BQ

as orcvader said, Hiper's are not the best psu's, you should look to upgrade to something decent like an OCZ or Corsair supply incase the hiper decides to take your machine out

OCZ Technology PSU, ModXStream Pro, 700W - UK. is what you should have written.

Be carefull, links to competitors will get you into trouble, as i found out recently.

Personally I would get the BeQuiet I recommended, no need to get 700w unless you plan on crossfiring later.

For sure this is the psu I couldn't get a 4870x2 to power up with that hiper and that was 2 generations ago.

Try attaching the PCIe power cable to a different molex connector in an effort to get onto one of the other 12v rails inside the PSU.

Well ive taken out the power supply and it still looks in mint condition says its a Type M 630w I guess maybe its also the reason why when overclocking my pc and unlocking cores the Hiper isnt giving out the right power

I tried e-mailing Hiper and e-mail failed to send i tried calling their UK office and phone doesnt work so looks like hiper is just 1 big fail.

Ive spent soo much money recently building a new pc all because my 9800gt died then my bios died with failures on screen and now my powersupply is no good ive run out of money and cannot afford a new powersupply game over for me am proper depressed *cries* am using my parents laptop and thats extremely slow
