Just watched it on BBC News, very interesting.

The conclusion basically is, they have evidence of salt water on Mars flowing through gullies right now, not frozen at the polar caps.

I wonder if America wasnt up to its eyes in debt would this have changed anything with regards to the current time frame for going to Mars or at least the amount of funding they would get.

First post :D

I think finding water on the moon and now Mars changes everything... Mars/Moonbase now become a lot more feasible.
The age of government as a driver/proprietor of of space travel is coming to an end, imo.
Just look at the Spaceport in New Mexico and other private companies anouncing their own space programmes.I reckon as soon as someones finds minerals/metals/very rare compounds somewhere on some rock out there, that's when private consortiums will really start to go pedal to the metal.

All highly hypothetical,I know.... :)

they already did even asteroids made out of common minerals are worth millions the problem is the cost of getting them back to earth

So Mars would probably make a perfect off-planet colony for us. If only the idiots in charge would realise this and stop ****ing money away on wars and bankers.

The future of mankind is in the stars.
