im trying to buy a board tonight for delivery on saturday......

But i thought i3 was 1156 and the others were all different but im well confused now as i read some boards are i3 i5 i7 compatable? have things changed these days lol...

Anyone shed a light for me as when i search on ocuk for 1156 boards i only get one choice?

Cheers for anyone that knows what i mean

There are a few versions of the Intel cpus which utilise different sockets, the latest one is the 1155 which is the new Sandybridge cpus, these again use the i range but they have 4 numbers rather than 3. Then there is the older socket 1366 which are i7 only.

The P55 chipset which uses the older i series is now obsolete along with there cpu's so many places would be stocking limited stock.

If I got what you meant.

there are 1156 and 1155 i3s, the 530 is an 1156 chip.

it is not compatible with 1155 boards.

OCuk doesn't have a good selection of 1156 boards as it is a last gen socket, however you can find lots still for sale elsewhere.

hope this helps

Gavin, there's the USB 3.0 version of the motherboard you have now in the clearance section here.

B Grade means it may just be the bare motherboard without any cables, backplate, accessories etc.

That shouldn't matter as you already have all that with your current motherboard.

It should just be a pretty simple swap with the installation of the USB 3.0 drivers.

hmm they go for about £30 on ebay though..

Anyone recommend me a few boards to look for on the bay?

even i have to wait till next week.

I hear a certain gigabyte board is quite good?

And cheers guys
