Needed: Photographer in Bath this Weds

(having been very guilty of over-saturated/processed tone-mapped stuff in the past!)

My personal goal now is to make my photos have value.

You wont know this but i've been a long time lurker of your photos. I think the stuff you refer to in the bit i've quoted was your best stuff. I really mean no offense but a lot of what you upload on your flickr these days (random stranger project aside) does nothing for me. I sometimes look at some of your recent stuff and can't work out why you uploaded it, compared with some of the stunning older stuff on your flickr that is :)

EDIT: No doubt in a few years i'll look back on the stuff i shoot now and shudder!

Cheers Steve, as above, each to their own 'n that! I can completely understand where you're coming from though. I know some of the users on this forum use flickr to post up just one or two shots at a time, which they've spent some time on, and they are generally decent high impact shots, if over-processed. Most of what I upload is photo-every-day stuff or events/holiday snaps to share with people or use as a back-up. The PED shots are basically my photo diary and I aim to have a shot which represents that day rather than just a pretty photo. Also, since deciding to stick with 'natural' processing a couple of years ago I agree most shots don't have a lot of impact, and when lost in a sea of similar stuff from the same event they can become boring.

That's the beauty of photography, people can look at the same image and have completely different views on it.

I see where you are coming from, i can go out for a day somewhere and shoot 200 photos but i'll only put what i consider my best 10 shots or so on my flickr. I also take your point on processing as i feel in many cases i over process my images.. I'm sure i'll look back on my stuff in a few years and see them differently to how i saw them when i uploaded them but as you say, it's good to see a progression.
