Brink free for a couple of days

It isn't a terrible game for some people, Depends on the style of games you like.

But you do have to play it before judging it.

Played it last night...

Just feels very clunky, for a game that is meant to be about pretty free movement it never really feels like it. Just feels so sluggish.

Other than that it looks a lot better than the 360 version I tried (no surprise there I guess) and it the gameplay is ok... didn't wow me though.

Will give it a few more goes though.

Meh. Downloaded but don't think there's much reason to play beyond the 10 minutes I've put in so far.

Started it up, played a challenge, jumped on a box and was stuck...
closed game, re-opened and couldn't move. When I jumped on the box it had unbound ALL the keys o_O
So I re-set them up but then found I can't get out the menu (I can get in it by pushing esc but not out of it pushing esc) and there's nothing obvious to click?

What the ?

Knew it would be **** being made by splash damage but wow. Shame the menus were quite nice :)

P.S Anyone else have really choppy mouse movement? I have 100-140 fps but feels like 30. Think it's my pc dying but wanted to check

Single payer is capped at 30 fps, fraps won't show this, and yeah the best looking thing about the game is the menus, in game it looks very poor indeed.

Not listening to any of the comments, learned my lesson with AvP. Was told over and over again that it was awful, sure enough got it in the steam sale and love it.

You'll figure this out eventually on these forums, test it and make the decision for yourself.

Install - Run - Play 2mins - Exit Game (don't even give it the chance to close normally, used task manager.) - Steam - Brink - Delete Local Content.
What a tool.

This game is half decent, I've played a lot worse. I would say its mediocre but I have enjoyed many mediocre games in the past.

This is one of the problems with a lack of demo's. A free weekend gives the impression that the publisher is desperate for sales.

It would've been more effective to have a demo weekend in the second month of release. That way you'd minimalise canabalising the advertising based sales and get a boost from people who would rather have a demo who like the game and will buy after they try it.

The lack of a prerelease demo is a major problem for new i.p. so the six weekish free weekend is the next best thing. It may also cut down on the demo pirating of the game.

hardly a tool, more like a realist. Clearly some people cant face that it should have been so much better.

So you got a good look at all aspects of the game in order to make an unbiased post within 2 minutes did you?

Since you clearly got such a good look at the game, what exactly was your problem with it? What offended you so much that you deleted it within 2 minutes?

My main issue with the game is nothing to do with gameplay, it runs like a dog on my system.

Q6600, 4870, 4GB ram...not a great spec by today's standards but it doesn't struggle with any game I throw at it. Ok I'm not running crysis 2 on ultra and I have to slacken the settings on some new games, but with brink I'm running on the lowest settings and its still chugging.

I'll avoid buying this game simply because of the bad performance.

How out of date are your drivers? I remember there was some kind of issue for Ati users that got a hotfix at release.
