UK ISP subscribers overpay by an average of £140 a year each (£2.7bn overall)

Umh, how have they decided that? What are they comparing it to?
I pay around the 'average' but I can guarentee that I have a much better connection (in that my router syncs higher than the average) than the average, I get far better customer support than the average and I'm very satisfied with my ISP. Yes, I could get much cheaper than that but my connection will be slower and the customer support will be terrible. I don't believe that I'm being overcharged though.

I am not overpaying

I pay £12 a month for BE Unlimited which gives me unlimited, un-throttled connection of up to 24mb down and 1.4mb up, of which I recieve 19mb down and 1.3mb up.

Hardly ripping me off?

Probably mean people paying for unlimited when they don't need it, like pulling 5 - 10gb a month.

As one of the commentors on that page said, this just looks like PR for USwitch, who are making issues out of nothing.

Thats usually down to the people who are buying the product though, surely they should buy a product which would suit them?

You wouldn't pay £40 a month for a mobile contract if you only use it for a few texts?

£12? I'm on the same service and pay £18. Explain please.

Discount because I am a valued customer :p:D

BE are pretty generous when handing out discount rates, I know a few people who have been given it.

Just have a chat with their provisioning team. Its usually after a year of being with them though

I pay £12.26 :D.

Phone 'em them, or open up a message through their website and say you're considering moving as you've found a cheaper price elsewhere (I quoted o2's price when I did it) and they might discount you. They did for me, and my pal when I told him. I think I told people about it here so maybe that's how DJMK4 did it.

...has increased from £13.95 in 2010 and represents a rise of about 5%. At least half of this is probably down to January's +2.5% hike in Value Added Tax (VAT), while the rest comes from the ever increasing burden of rising data consumption and new laws/regulation.
Sounds like they are increasing prices in line with increased costs, hardly greedy :-/
Also, if someone is overpaying for a service that's their own fault for not finding the best deal.

Your lucky then as we have to pay £35 per month in Hull for the same levle of service due to not having BT lines...

Thanks to OCuk, I got the same deal. Told them I could get O2 broadband for £5 cheaper and they offered me the discount straight away.

I've now moved by BT landline rental to Be too. £22.26 all in for unlimited broadband + phone. Great company. :)

Right, A call will be made. Lets see what they say. I've been with them for 3 years+ now.

Had a few issues of that type with BT Internet. But have now managed to get the Option 3 with line rental for £21 per month which includes unlimited BT FON/Openzone minutes which cam in handy when in the hotel in Portugal for a couple of weeks and their WiFi portal was an Openzone partner!
