What's it like? Still good or has it been overrun by the Brits on stag do's? Thinking of going for 3 nights end of August with a couple of mates, visit Aushwitz also. Any info on bars/clubs and price of beer would be welcome.

Failing that any suggestions for an alternative destination would be most welcome. Basically spec a city a break :(

I was there in February (I think) and it was amazing! :) Such great architecture and the people there are very friendly :) Would definitely go again :)

I was there in February and it was extremely cold. I wore three vests, a shirt, a jumper, an overcoat and two scarfs and was still freezing cold!

The City itself is OK, nothing spectacular. Auschwitz is a must. Don't have vodka drinking competitions the night before Auschwitz and puke up on the bus, like I did.

What days? You could have been there the same time I was :p

I came back yesterday morning after 4 days and it was roasting on wednesday & thursday but I still wore shorts on Monday & Tuesday.
I saw no stag do's and we were in the main square every evening.
Beer is about 10 to 12 PLN's (we divided by 4 for £).
I personally wouldn't say it was cheap, meal + 2 pints each came to about 120 PLN (£25) where here in England we'd pay £22 for the same (two for one).
We felt very safe walking around all parts of Krakow and didn't see one sign of trouble.

We stayed in the Hotel Kazimierz II in the Jewish Quarter which is on the main road going straight into the Main Square - http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=kra...1,-4.064941&sspn=22.910374,39.111328&t=h&z=20 but to be honest I wouldn't recommend if you're a light sleeper because of the trams passing every 5 minutes.

Make sure you visit Schindlers Factory which is a few 100 yards down from where we stayed and obviously do the Auschwitz tour.
