Probably within a year or so, depends on his mileage I know two people who've had smart cars converted come to us. They love the extra mileage...

I guess the sort of person who buys a smart only does so because they want to get from A to B for as little money as possible, rather than in a comfortable or exciting way.

He's going to have to do about 50k+ really to make that worthwhile. I think I'd rather die

We'd do it for 950 inc vat, 2 yrs parts n labor. And put it on the LPGA online register so insurance wont be a problem.

I dunno exactly how much LPG costs, but say about 80p? I dunno how many MPG a smart car on LPG does, but say about 60? I then make that about 56,000 miles to break even if it costs £2300! LOL! Does a smart car even last that long?

TBH mate, I think they quoted it because they didn't want the job.

If he accepts, you cant suddenly start knocking the price back or he would start asking questions as to why it was so high in the first place.

This is quite an upmarket Jaguar Landrover Centre in an expensive part of London so they do tend to charge a bomb. Some of the clients don't even want to know how much a repair is, they just give the garage authorisation to do whatever needs doing, even if it comes to thousands.

Human stupidity knows no bounds.

IIRC an LPG conversion tpyically loses ~20% power, and ~10% MPG overall - but of course the benefit is much lower fuel costs.

In a Range Rooney, or a big engined Jag or Merc etc you can lose 20% of your BHP and not really cry too much.

I'd hate to lose 20% of the power of an already gutless Smart car!
