Just got a letter from Bethesta's lawyers. They claim "Scrolls" infringes on their trademark and everyone will confuse it with Skyrim.

Proof! It's a total of 15 pages! twitpic.com/61cckm

Who in their right minds is gonna confuse Scrolls with Skyrim.

Almost free advertising for Skyrim though. Submit a lawsuit, everywhere on the net talks about it - bet its cheaper than paying for ads these days

What was the very first game to have the word Scroll in its name? i think they should take legal action against Bethesda.

This is why trademarks, patents, intellectual property in general, is an incredibly IDIOTIC concept. I cannot wait to see in 50 years humanity looking back and thinking "wow, we really were idiots, restricting ideas like that, huh?"

Oooo massive amount of fanboys and girls on both sides!

From as I see it, how is this anything at all like ES ? Crazy. Seem's like it's a tactical card game affectively, and not an fps/rpg.

Wait bethesda is submitting a lawsuit over somebody useing a word from the english language that they also have used?

This is just like Apple trying to trademark the phrase "app store".

No one is going to confuse "The Elder Scrolls" with "Scrolls".

Plus, most people will call The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim but the name Skyrim.

Apple succeeded though...

App store is an apple service mark (if you're interested a service mark is the equivalent of a trademark but instead of being for a company or a product it is for a service that company provides)
