Skinny ties were in fashion, for a short period, 3 or 4 years ago. They are dead in the water now.
If you want to follow fashion then you should be wearing a tie that is about as wide as your lapel. It just makes sense and the symmetry looks good.
Skinny ties are for kids.

Show me a designer using skinny ties. Ford, Bastian, McQueen (I should say, he never used them rather than he doesn't use them now... For obvious reasons) haven't used skinny ties in years. I doubt Ford (who is probably the best designer around atm imo) has ever used them... If you really want to be 'current' with fashion then you should probably be sporting a bow tie...

Sort of, they told me to go see some other place (A admin center for a group of schools) and they gave me part-time work. Couldn't complain, I was 16 and just dropped out of college.

My OH got a suit last week for my friend's wedding from one of those designer outlet places, got a really nice suit reduced from £270 to about £140 so good times. Great-looking suit too. Think the place was called SuitDirect.

Oh and if you want a woman's perspective - no skinny ties

Remember that the photos will be looked at 20, 30 years in the future so go for traditional.
