Afghan helicopter crash kills 31 US troops....

A US helicopter crash in eastern Afghanistan has killed 31 US special forces and seven Afghan soldiers, President Hamid Karzai's office says.

The helicopter was taking the personnel back to their base after an operation.

It is not clear how the crash happened but the Taliban said they shot the helicopter down.

The incident is believed to be the biggest single loss of life for US forces in Afghanistan since operations began in 2001.

RIP. Reminds me of when we lost 18/19 in a helicopter crash during the Falklands.

RIP. :(

Im surprised they didn't have 2 Apache gunships to escort them back to base, with heavy Taliban presence after the supposed killing of "8 Taliban Insurgents".

Either way, condolences to their families.

it could have just crashed, some of them are very old.

terrible loss of skills and people though :(

These things always get reported as a 'crash' or 'mechanical failure'....Yea, the sort of mechanical failure that happens when it has a bullet or SAM hit it

It's a war, we can accept the fact that the bad guys shoot back

They might as well pull out of there already. Nothing good seems to be coming of this conflict and it's a never-ending battle.

Lives are being wasted.
