UTter balls. EA have been happy with Steam's terms of service for years. Why the sudden change? Surely it can't be because they need some sort of excuse to pull away from steam and boost sales on their own distribution platform .

EDIT: This is the first time someone from EA has confirmed that BF3 is getting taken off steam. It's only been speculated before on games blogs. So shut yer traps :p.

Well, this is the first time I've heard it confirmed (rather than the rumours/speculation).

It's a bit annoying as I really don't like EA's download service but it probably won't stop me from buying the game.

why should they give steam a cut when they can have their own platform thats just as good?

BF3 is available at around hundred other digital delivery sites. It's the new rules Steam introduced that makes it impossible to sell BF3 in Steam. I'm not sure whose side I'm on this though.

Steams only rules are that if a user buys a game on steam then they should be able to play it's DLC.

EA are trying to put the blame on steam here, when in fact steam are just trying to do whats best for the gamers. EA just want people to use their inferior 'Origin' service so they don't have to give a percentage of their earnings to Steam, they don't care about gamers at all.

I for one will not be buying BF3 despite having 1600+ hours on BF2, just like I refuse to buy any games from Blizzard.

I like Steam, nearly all the games I buy are Steam. It took I while, I was suspicious of it for a while during the early Half Life days. All I know is I don't want two game services. I'll buy retail, but not Origin. Let me guess, Origin is mandatory to play?

Most people will buy through origin, but they will organise friends through steam and only load origin when they want to play. Steam has years of experience, 10 times as many users and a back catalog that makes EA look like a car boot sale. If anything, this could be a disaster for EA, if they screw up for even 1 day, the dream is over.

So what EA is saying that other Download services can sell & get a cut from the game but no one but EA can sell the DLC for it.

Because its not just as good.

Plus I have all my gaming friends on Steam, I'm not going to change because of one game.

Me neither, this whole situation stinks.

in reference to one specific part of Steam's Terms of Service agreement, which forces games to deliver DLC and patches through Steam rather than through a game-specific client

WHAT THE **** IS STEAM IF NOT A GAME SPECIFIC CLIENTS.

The wording E.A are using is making this seem more like a PR exercise everyday.

E.A - **** you.

I also believe in choice and forcing me NOT to use Steam equals a lost sale.

Oh well, Red Orchestra 2 will be better than BF3 anyway.

Welcome to three months ago

To all you lemmings, this is the first confirmation from an EA representative. Before it's been speculation by various blogs after EA withdrew a couple their games from steam. Lots of people have been waiting for a word on whether one of their biggest franchises would be taken off Steam.

I find it quite funny people refusing to buy BF3 because its not on steam. Oh how I miss the days where you had to buy a physical CD to play a game.

I like Steam but their customer service is just simply bad. If Origin can change that I`m happy. Also a bit of competition couldn`t hurt either, as I said customer services and the prices of games on Steam leave much to be desired.

I don't think it's because it isn't on Steam, it's because they are trying to push a service not many people need or want. Steam is good because it is publisher agnostic and it isn't trying to push you into a corner. My take on it anyway
