Riots in Tottenham, London! (NO RACIST COMMENTS)

I see your point, and horse dung on the roads isn't a very pleasant sight but I'd much prefer the police concentrate on keeping law and order and having a visible presence than spending their time shovelling up horse dung and finding a suitable place to put it. If this means there is a bit of horse dung on the streets, so be it.

I'd rather check out birds and saunter along as opposed to picking up animal mess, but the law compels me to do so. Hell even law enforcement animal handlers have to follow those rules.

The police should not be immune from what they enforce, it turns them into hypocrites. Horse **** being the lower end of things mind you...

Then look harder to be honest.

All the action is round the corner where the police vans have moved (out of shot) so it's hard to tell who's causing the problem.

About 10mins ago they had a prolonged close-up of several black males wearing chains and baseball caps running down towards the cameras away from police.

must have missed that.

Ahh yes, the nice area where the rich and politicians live where multiculturalism is a great success as they can get on the tube to London and use a Polish coffee shop, without ever actually experiencing the negative effects of mass immigration .

Looks like its clearing up.

Quite the opposite, another building has been reported to be set on fire, the cameras just don't have a clear shot of it.

You choosing to have a dog, for pleasure is totally different from the police utilising horses to keep law and order.

Are you really suggesting that the police should stop and pick up non hazardous waste from a horse instead of getting on with their job? If they did, you'd probably be here moaning that the police aren't doing enough proper police work!

PL is not local. Lewisham is south of the river last time I checked.

I would say those on the front line are TSG. Rest are just woody's. ;)

Yup PL is Lewisham. Local as in any of the Met boroughs.

The TSG officers have the letter 'U' by the way.

The officers at the front (with the firemen), are riot trained borough officers. There are some TSG out, but the vast majority of them are in the vans.

This wont be the last of it, tonight was just the start. It will kick of over the coming days now, as they look to get revenge.

I hope i eat my words, just feel it will start again.

Why should the gangs be given a chance for revenge?

I would authorise police to use full force if it came to a full shoot out. Basically police should just round up all the gangs with heavy force and give them harsh justice.

If police already know about gang members, then there is no need for futher undercover investigations to catch them out. Just be blunt.

This whole debate about horse dung is ridiculous. Look at the place - the horses could all be explosively incontent and it would still be one of the lowest issues to deal with.

Well police vehicles seem to be moving forward taking the area in the zoom shots. For example they've gone way past the burnt bus.

Incidentally, riot officers were authorised to use "necessary force" during the last student riots. It is then up to local commanders to use their discretion. First time in a LONG time officers have not been given very specific instructions for these incidents.

If I work with the dog unit, I have to clean up the mess.

If they take out their horses, they get to crap all over the road.

Can my officers with the dog teams get on with the job protecting the revenue and country and forget about their mess too? Nope.

I'm saying they should stop littering and making a mess with no regard to it afterwards.

No, I'm just fed up with the police acting above the law. An off duty police officer knocked over and killed a guy on new years day, left the scene and handed himself in later. No charge.

That isn't parity, that is a practical joke.

Biohazard loves playing devil's advocate, I don't think there is anything behind his point other than the urge to cause debate.
