Can someone tell me what a hostel experience is like?

Imagine a room with 12 people domitory style all snoring a couple shagging, that could be it, with shared bathroom very little privacy. Wet towels everywhere.. lol
TBH its fine if you are young and dont care.. but id never do it again.

Hotel? Twin bed - ensuite bathroom, room service, porn on TV , minibar, tea and coffee.

You ever been in a hotel ?
 
Expect to meet and be forced to spend time with either the most interesting and awesome or the most irritating and repulsive people you have ever met :p

have you tried premier inn / travelodge / Ibis?

If you book far enough in advance its can be silly cheap 19 or 29 quid.

They are ok, basic but comfortable and clean
 
I've stayed in a few in Amsterdam and they've been fine. Try to get one with a smaller shared room, 6-8 seems better. We used it for sleeping, then had breakfast and spent most of the day out and about. Not tried a UK Hostel yet, don't think they'd be the same as the Dam or on the continent so where about you needing to stay so we can judge it a little better?
 
Tell me which hostel u ware planing on staying in ill sleep in the same bed as you to make sure you dont get felt up like a little spider monkey too much.

BTW i snore. and giggle in my sleep.
 
This thread made me YouTube Hostel and relive the delightful memories of Hostel 2 and all of it's gory. :(

TBH I'd prefer not to stay in a hostel room with people I don't know. Last time I did the above happened. Least I wasn't the one in the top bunk of the bed they were in...

In which case one of two things will happen.

1) You'll be sharing with epic hot Swedish ladies looking for an English man (assuming you're English), who will get drunk and let you have your way with them.

2) You'll be sharing with epic drunk English men looking for hot Swedish ladies, who will have their way with you when they fail.

Haha, this made me laugh. I wonder if Swedish women like the Welsh...
 
It's about as broad a question as asking if hotels are nice - some hostels are great, some are grim. Look at the big review sites to get an idea (hostelworld, hostelbookers).
 
I stayed in one in Australia (Coober Pedy), as I checked in I noticed they had rooms as well as dorms so paid a bit extra for a room.

Then walked past the dorm later in the evening and found there were about 10 late teen / early twenties girls staying in there.

Ffffffuuuuuuuu!
