ok i will not bore you with the whole issues i have had with Bt and the reasons why i have moved from them, but i have gone with Sky for the only LLU service on my exchange, sky quoted me 10-20mb for my line but i have taken that with a pinch of salt as i will probably get 8-9mb (next door neighbours on sky with them speeds) my mac code was given to sky and everything has been ordered and sorted regarding sky its just a waiting game now, but my concern is with BT as there manor with me when i asked for a mac code and refused there attempts to keep me could they make the switch difficult for me??? do i need to cancel anything with them or will sky do that via the mac code process

BT Retail don't deal with the swap once you have your MAC, it's Openreach who, while still a 'BT Group' company are at least supposed to be independant. Did they give you a MAC? And if so, have you given this to Sky as MAC's are only valid for 30 days.

yea received the mac on the phone to BT and used it with sky within the hour lol just wondering if i have to cancel anything with BT myself or if its done automatically when sky use the mac code

BT are a bunch of clowns, and I will avoid having to pay them any money for any service in future.

I was still arguing with them over my final bill 12 months after I cancelled my contract with them, so don't expect to part with them easily I'm afraid.

As far as I can tell they pluck the figures on the bills they send you out of thin air, and no two people on the end of their helpline phone numbers have the same answers or explanations as to how they come to these figures.

Good luck!

The main reason why i left them is that my 2 year contract was up and within the week of that they dropped my line from 7mb to 1mb, because i wouldnt extend the contract they kept it at 1mb, when i phoned them up for the mac code they said i could have my speed increased if i got another contract with them, truely disgusting service from them

it doe's not make any difference who you go with these day's
they all promise this and that just to get signature and once they got you er doomed.
been with them all bt,sky, talktalk and now vm. it all looks good when you sign up but once something goes wrong your in the sh@t,you phone up and get india someone you don't understand your problem and they come up with something total different all together

hey - im thinking of moving from BT to sky also, can you let me know how you find it?

im sick of my speed dropping every few weeks, and the monkeys on the phones have no clue at all. been with them for years but enough is enough especially for how much they charge

cheers!

Sky has appeared to be fine with me. Same level of service as I got with BT (no problems for me I'm glad to say) but my real world speeds are better, especially my upload which has almost tripled...
Reason I changed is the cost savings and anytime+
