Ferrari 360 Experience Day - Elvington, York

I wonder if perhaps the way you booted it when she first said to accelerate and then sounded a bit confused and nervous when she said to slow it up a bit made her assume you were a generally nervous driver and so she didn't want to let you push it too hard?

I floored it and she is the one who started having a heart attack over it...?

EDIT: I think next time I just go down to one of those palmer driving days and have a proper day of it in all different cars. I hear nothing but good things about them.

I'm not surprised you weren't impressed by the 360, at various points she had you in 4th by 40! Tempted to rock up and do a day.... purely as they would never expect a guy on walking sticks to be used to driving quick :D

Did she have dual controls or not (I think not) ?

On the last bit of the experience I'd just floor it and rev all the way, what is she gonna do at worst? Shout and forbid you to take another one of their crappy experiences ?

You paid to be nagged about speed and direction? I just take the wife to TESCO and get that for free

What an "experience", makes my daily drive to work seem like a rollercoaster ride

She had a pedal on the passenger side, I assumed it was a brake, didn't get used though

And to the last post above, it was a gift which was booked months in advance.

Hi there

You really got the short straw there, infact I'd have complained to someone in charge, what kind of instructor is she?

Seriously it seemed to me like you were on a Sunday drive, did you ever exceed the UK speed limit?

Also the 360's gearbox is epic, the F1 transmission is jerky but thats the fun, but its overly jerky for you because your not changing up at full tilt.

The 360 day at Silverstone I did we was hitting nearly 140mph in the 360's and in the wet, yes the wet.

All my instructor kept saying to me, was POWER POWER POWER and from time to time brake and remember to look ahead down the track.

Id complain if I were you, not only did you not get to experience a Ferrari at full tilt, you never even broke the speed limit and you were on a track.

Sorry she is either useless or she thought you were useless.

On the day I did we drove 360's and Gayardo's, in the 360 it was an F1 transmission and was using gears 2nd upto 5th at my own will, in the Gayardo is was a manual and 1st and 2nd were gated off, but use of all other gears were fine and some were hitting 150+ on the straight.

Might I suggest you save up for a Jonathon Palmer day at Bedford, there is truly no better driving experience day and you will really learn how to handle a car and even get to race in single seaters. :)

I had to stop the video half way through cause she was so annoying. Not going above 4k rpm and 70mph in a Ferrari, there is hardly point in even driving it. Its not as if it is going to break, hell I took the GT6 over 4k rpm today and it was fine.

Many thanks for sharing the video though as it has confirmed for me that I never want to do one of these day with one of these outfits. Think I'll just stick to taking my own car :P.

Looked terrible! Were you really not allowed to open it up at all??!!

Went to a similar sort of day myself with a friend visiting from Singapore - also at elvington but different organisers judging by the plate on the car (will have to find out who mine was run by). Mine was good - I went for the Murcielago and was literally encouraged to thrash the **** off it, which I did :) No dual controls, redline revs, tyre bothering, everything. Did about 125 max, but it's a very twisty layout they have there. Overtook a few others and got a 'score' of 38/40 whatever that meant.

Still that was all eclipsed by the supercharged Ariel Atom! Was nothing to do with the supercar bunch - just a guy there with his daughter giving passenger laps. He could actually drive his car and **** me was it quick. Every supercar there was dispatched like it was some kind of slow moving mobile roadblock. Was that by any chance the same Atom as in your first pic?

He is right. That's where I work :D

Don't think you can really get better!

Were there any BSM stickers on the car?:D

No and will people stop saying that. It's not my driving ability that was crap and slow. Thinking about what you guys say maybe I should complain. It was a 6th gear experience and a bit ****ed off now I paid £35 for a video (you had to pre pay for it - my biggest mistake)

That is terrible! You seem to be doing 50mph for most of it, you'd have been better off taking your own car around.

Definately complain, complete rip off. I've had more fun walking.

That's right, I even facebooked that I found the drive home in the mini more fun then Ferrari on track.

Who would you complain too? On top of 35 pound I had to pay 25 for insurance. It's a joke now I think of it

Ask in GD section, plenty of clever people in there will come up with a killer email/letter for you that will just tell it as it is to whoever it concerns.
