Fifa 12: PC Will Get “Impact Engine”

omg, so happy I read through this thread to the end, I basically only had an xbox for fifa, so glad I can play the same version as consoles now. Saves me buying a 40 quid xbox that might red ring.

But when the next gen version comes out on the next xbox & playstation, you can pretty much guarantee pc gamers will be abandoned yet again for a few years with the new version.

Don't fifa games have **** poor sales on PC anyway? I can kinda see why they wouldn't bother trying to get the engine to work on PC if they don't make that many sales.

Most sports games have always been a console thing, they never work out on PCs.

You could argue that if they don't update it and make it the same as the console engine then sales will never go up.

Already got a USB xbox controller in anticipation of this coming out :D

If they finally release it on steam (chances are slim to none) then I will buy it. If not I will wait until I can get it under £20, as I already have Fifa 11 on PC and don't fancy forking out full price for a small update. Might even wait for Fifa 13.

For sure though day one purchase if they surprise us and stick it on steam. Fifa game on steam would be awesome :)

I'm always amazed when people use the piracy argument. Its down to numbers, more people buy console games than pc games. end of story. They have probably predicted the sales wont be high enough of the pc to justify the time spent. No the piracy would not be a deciding factor in this. Its just an excuse they like to spew out.

edit just saw the update, wonder what changed their mind.

Surely the whole point is that for PC users, FIFA 12 isn't a small update over FIFA 11 because it will get all of the things that the PC missed out on compared to the console versions of FIFA 11 plus all of the new improvements?

As long as EA don't release some late statements about taking some features out having made "their best efforts" to make the PC version equal to the console versions, I am definitely getting this on PC and will be pleased to leave the PS3 behind.

Yes, even with seven weeks to go until release I don't fully trust them to deliver. Been here before.

Dont think pc sales are that bad always loads of players online and I bet they are loads of players who dont play online. I think they still make a nice bit of money off the pc users to just stop making it for the pc and I know a fair few pc players who bought fifa 11 just becaue it was a vast imorvment over last few years so I think sales were up and they have realised if they put the effort in pc players will buy it.

Me too, but seeing as E.A are soo "ANTI Competition" at the moment, I doubt it will be released on the platform.

I do think it is a small update, as graphics will be the same and you will get a few changes that won't exactly massively improve my gameplay enjoyment. Basically the improvements they made for fifa 11 on consoles and ones now in fifa 12. Not worth paying full price for, in my opinion that is.

Yeah, I don't like EA :(

Dam that means yet another year the console fanboys will be saying my ps3/360 is better than your pc:(

Sorry but the most vehement fanboys, and certainly the biggest examples of that picture are hardcore 'console graphics give me a headache / annoy me / are crap compared to my £2k rig / and console games are for derps' PC gamers, not console gamers. Most topics in the pc forum here are full of people moaning about the demon consoles and how anyone who is tainted by them should be burned at the stake.

I game on PC and PS3 and thoroughly enjoy myself on both platforms. I certainly don't feel the need to keep squawking the same old tired 'consoles are killing / holding back PC games' rhetoric.

As for the piracy issue - any idiot can download and play a game on PC whereas a lot of people don't want to flash their xbox's or jailbreak their PS3's because they could get banned and will void their warranty if anything goes wrong.

Gaming has evolved from the niche hobby that it used to be. It's now a mainstream pastime enjoyed by people from all walks of life. It's much more accepted by the general public and gamers aren't really considered to be spotty, bespectacled nerds who live in their parents basements. Consoles can be thanked for that.

My guess (and like most of the opinions here, it's just a guess) is that the PC versions of games are barely covering their own costs whereas console versions are making huge profits. I'm not even sure that piracy comes into it, unless that really is the reason that pc games aren't making the money that they need to make to become a profitable platform in the eyes of the publishers.

As I said, I enjoy both console and PC gaming but most people claim that pc gaming is better because the graphics are nicer. Does that 'really' make them better? It makes them look nicer but for the most part gameplay is the same, especially when you consider that a lot of pc gamers now own a 360 controller. Lus the fact that when playing consoles (most notably games like Uncharted 2 and the more recent Killzone 3, coincidentally also 2 great games that can't be played on the PC platform) on a nice big TV from the sofa, it looks pretty damn nice.

Nothing will be as sharp for FPS as keyboard and mouse but that's not what everyone is looking for in this age of gaming. If the playing field is level (as it is on consoles) then all that really matters is that everyone involved is having fun.

All these people talking about console piracy as if they know what they mean, I assume you all know then that new 360 games have a new anti-piracy measure (XGD3) that as far as I know has not been hacked yet.

So it's not just a simple thing of downloading the game and burning it anymore.

And FWIW I do not have a hacked 360, I just read up about these things.

Fair enough I guess.

rubbish. its been confirmed that the pc version of fifa is identical to the console version including impact engine and all the game modes

The slight problem with this thread is that the original post was made in May, EA announced otherwise in June and we're now in August. Caught me out at first yesterday.

And then you Jtag your system and your good to go.

Console piracy is an issue and I for one am sick of the PC being singled out EVERY time and most console users refusing to accept it is widespread when it BLATANTLY is.

You say this but games sell astronomically better on consoles than they do on PC. Crysis 2 sales were 57% on Xbox, 29% PS3 (possibly because it didn't look as good as the 360 version) and a crappy 14% on PC. However, when reading pc game related forums it seems a lot of people have played it. Guess they just didn't buy it? This is just one game but I looked it up as I thought it would have good sales on the PC.

So a lot of people BLATANTLY buy their games on consoles. I'm sure that some pirate but unless you have irrefutable proof to say otherwise, I don't think it's as widespread as you'd like to believe. In fact I don't think the new Xbox slim can even be flashed yet but it sold well.

I honestly don't know anyone who has flashed their xbox or jailbroken their PS3. I know lots that have hacked their PSP or softmodded their Wii but out of the big 3 - 360, PS3 and PC I don't see how you can keep a straight face while saying console piracy is bigger than PC piracy.

Sorry for sidetracking from Fifa, I'm just tired of people being so full of denial yet so stubbornly opinionated. Just because you say it's true doesn't mean it is.
