Basically I'm looking for an alternative to Gmail or Hotmail. Something really simple, without stuff like Live Space, or Chat.. etc

I was looking at Runbox but I know very little and was wondering if someone could recommend one.

Thanks.

get your own domain.
Host it somewhere usually a different place to where you bought the domain but does not have to be
Use their mail servers.

Why is this in the hardware section?

Yahoo mail?

Yahoo mail is terrible, even with the new features. Spam seems to make it's way in more than Hotmail too.

I prefer Google Mail out of them all.

Usually the email clients for hosting servers don't have chat or any fancy features, just email which is good. Although I don't think he has a domain nor website.

yeah , don't need a website though, just buy a domain. Good thing is his email address will be the same for ever more, no matter what or who he uses for his email.

I've had Yahoo mail for many years and you're right about the spam. However, after some careful filtering I've got mine working perfect now. Almost all the unsolicited crap goes either to the Trash or Spam folders and I don't have to worry about it.

It's all about how you use the filters, it just takes a little patience.

I've owned a domain for over ten years and simply redirect my mail to whatever service I'm using, currently Gmail. Any emails I sent come "from" my owned domain" so it's seamless.
