Lewisham High street. Small skirmishes and a lot of police. Nothing too bad so far but they are expecting...

This anti-police feeling that we have in this country makes me sick.

They've received so much criticism over the student riots and the sensible and safe kettling tactics they employed to control the large groups of rioters.

It's sickening really.

Now they just have to stand off, powerless to do anything.

The youths and scum in London are well aware of what this means, they push their luck right to the edge, they do not care. There is no law in London right now. They are looting shops right in front of the police, they aren't covering their faces, they are on camera and nothing is stopping them.

It's way out of control now.

Support the police, ignore the Guardian, BBC and the Mirror with their stupid anti-police, anti-tory agenda's. Lets get this stuff under control.

If you walk up and throw a brick in a police officers face, you deserve whatever comes to you.

What armchair politicians who hate the police forget, it takes 2-3 men to safely bring another man under control. When they force people to the floor, punch them to subdue them, this is all part of their training to try and safely prevent the individual causing harm to others and to themselves. This is not brutality, it's normality and it needs to be accepted.

I can't stand this hate wagon against the police and it's absolutely part of the problem now.

Its always good to criticise authority to an extent, not being anti-authority here, it just keeps things in check between people and authority.

Martial Law Basically?

Whatever you want to call it, I just think people should be able to walk around in safety and due to us having become such a PC country it seems that the police are unable to take the actions required to correct this situation.

Im pretty sure the army would have no such troubles and that is IMHO what they are there for.

Been following this on OCuK mainly (let's face it - what other source do we need? :p), so apologies if this has been answered earlier - any reports of any residential homes being attacked? Or is it at least restricted to shops etc.?

No residential homes have been directly attacked, AFAIK, but a pretty large number of homes were destroyed in the fires they started in Tottenham - especially as there are flats above most shops.

I haven't heard reports of anyone being hurt because they were inside at the time.

I left Croydon at 4:50, the shops were all closed and I walked onto the highstreet where there was a large group of hoodies covering their faces.

There were police about but I wouldn't say there were enough to deal with the group if it kicked off.

Lots of scared people on the tram fleeing the town centre like some kind of warzone. Nothing was happening when I left though.

Who do we need to shout at to get the police to deal with this the way they should be dealing with it?
