I don't understand why the police on the ground have been told to deploy these stand and watch tactics. Surely night 3 of this kind of violence calls for tougher action?

Whoever is calling the police tactics need to be fired asap :/
 
Time to stop molly-coddling these animals.

Authorities have access to tear gas and water cannon. Why not use it.

We are now reaping what has been sown. These people have no fear of the police, or the courts. The only people they fear are other thugs who can hurt them.

This is a BIG test for the government.
 
Still got no sympathy for Duggan, he had a gun. If you have an illegal gun, you deserve anything you get.

The police deliberately avoid releasing statements on these things because they get picked to buggery by idiots at the Guardian, the BBC and the Mirror (and other leftie liberal media with anti-police agendas).

They are damned if they do, damned if they don't.

If the officers came out and talked about it, the media would pick holes in it and torture them over it. If the officers say nothing, the media whine and people riot.. they cannot win, they need our support.

Of course they need to be held accountable, but it's far beyond this right now.

At this point they need to take action because the scum (youths and adults, but mostly youths) are seeing others getting away with mass looting, assaulting police and general vandalism. They want their piece of the action, they want their share of the loot. They know they can get away with it.

They NEED consequences and they need SEVERE punishment right now. There's no room for sympathy here, they deserve no liberty at this point.

Totally agree, the police need to set an example and beat these tools down and show them who's boss.

West Midlands Police twitter feed says

"We have not seen any incidents, but we will have extra officers on patrol in the centre and suburbs this evening"

and

"West Mids Police are aware of unsubstantiated messages on Twitter, Facebook and BBM about disorder at 6pm in Birmingham this evening"

But was 2 hours ago.

Absolutely Sky.

The BBC are anti-police and heavily anti-tory, so they'll naturally take the stance to show the police and the government in a bad light and minimise the coverage of youths and scum.

Sky have their own agenda of course, but they generally just love to 'entertain' you with their live coverage, blitzing every area, giving you as much footage as possible and are against scum and generally pro-police.
