Ferrari 360 Experience Day - Elvington, York

wow!

You didnt listen to her one bit, you were like a nodding dog on drugs, "ok" "yeh" "yeh" "ah", then didnt listen to her simple instructions of where to go.... She then even told the photographer youd come from an old mini, so she was obviously apprehensive from the start, then you nail it and bang on about your mini again..

are you retarded?

like people have said she had done a bit of psychological profiling on you...

So? If she said I came from a Bugatti Veyron, what difference would that make?

I got my car slagged off for suggesting that :(

ill await the slagging!

because a) you didnt listen to simple instructions b) you banged on about a clapped out old mini with 60bhp

Its the combined mixture of the above, giving her no confidence for you to open the taps.

What about your clapped out old lexus...I bet that is ****ing tragic to drive?

It looks that old.

It is not a criticism of you that you drive a Mini. There is nothing wrong with driving a Mini. It is an absolutely cracking first car!

However, as a fact of life it means that it doesn't say 'I've got experience of driving fast cars, so I should be left alone to get on with hooning in this Ferrari'. Thats not anything against you, thats just how it is. The Ferrari couldn't be more different to the Mini, and she will have had that at the back of her mind.

Had I rocked up in my first car and said 'Hi guys, yea, I drive a 92bhp Citroen' I'd also have had the same treatment I'd imagine. Its not personal - its just how people are. There is no need to be so hostile about it.

Its not about you, its about them being really nervous with 400bhp Ferraris and inexperienced drivers thats all. Don't take it so personally!

The instructors profile you based on your previous experience.

Think of it like this, two customers.

Customer A says their experience is a 1.0l Mini, immediately they are going to be like ah best keep this guy within the reigns, he has no experience of a powerful car.

Customer B says yes I've had M3 CSL's, 911's and done loads of trackdays, instantly the instructor has some confidence in you and as long as you don't drive like a moron will be giving you more leeway from the word go.

Plus if you were not listening to basic instruction at the beginning of where to go and properly acknowledging them they shall be very hesistant in letting you loose.

Also it still does come down to instructor as well, some of more willing to let you find your own limits than others.

But I have to say if you want to do this kind of thing, then save up and do a JP day as nothing comes close and I can quite happily say the JP day is the best seat time in cars I've ever head and nothing comes close to the experience and G you pull in the single seaters. :)

you've done it now, he's going to try and **** your car!!!

No I am not going to. Why? Because Gibbo is the only one who has added anything helpful and meaningful to this thread.

Thank you Gibbo.

EDIT: The instructor also said at one point that she knows what I meant about power steering as she races classic cars (apparently?) so if anything it could be that she doesn't know the capabilities of the car.

I dunno.

My dad went on one of these experience days at the Vision Motorsports track at Great Tew a few months back. He also went in a Ferrari 360, he was originally going in an Aston Martin V8 Vantage but that blew it's engine the day before, but my dad wasn't bothered :p

Three laps around their track and even from the off he was allowed to give it as many beans as he wanted. Said to me he got it up to about 110MPH before he wanted to slam on the brakes on what looked like a small track from where I was spectating. Don't know if they questioned him about what he drives on a daily basis or not, but he only drives a Fabia vRS in any case so it's not like he has any super-car experience.

didn't read my post then? #51

Stating you drive a mini and are not used to power steering is one thing, but compare your video against their advertised one and I think most will agree your instructor was/is not great.

Let them know and see what they say about it, simple as that.

He wouldn't dare insult Gibbo though because he's a mod.

Have I ever thrown my weight around in this forum or banned anyone though?

The answer is no, most of you here know me on a personal level and no I give as good as I get. :p

The bann hammer would only ever truly come out if some one was mega abusive to another user or was simply being an all out troll.
