LEGO Technik fans - seen this?

No, can't believe I missed that! Must look more on the discovery channels!

There was also another fact on there.
They went through a very bad time in the 90's and lost money year after year to the tune of 500 million and then something happened.
Adults started to buy the Lego kits which you can programme from a PC (don't know the name) and they started to hack the software.
Now where Microsoft and Apple would try and put a stop to it, Lego invited the Hackers in to pick their brains and the rest is history.

hack the software? wtf they were entirely programmable maybe the guy just worded it wrong and what he meant was they took some of the ideas people were programming

Similar to this awesome thing! (Even though it probably uses an arduino clone or something similar, the idea is there!)

Ah Lego :) I actually dug my Lego out of my parents' loft a couple of months ago. It'd been sat up there for about 20 years and I knew a fair few bits were missing. After much time invested and some ordering of many replacement pieces I ended up with this:

Also found two complete Lego trains and lots of Technics stuff which I've managed to get all the bits together for too, including the control centre which had the somewhat pointless, yet at the time strangely interesting drawing machine thing. I guess now I've done this lot I can strip it all down and bag it properly for my kids later on down the line ;)

Must admit I am surprised to see how expensive Lego is these days but then 20 years ago I guess it was probably along the same lines, I can't really remember.

My sister and I used to play with lego a lot 20-25 years ago, I know at the time the sets I really wanted (massive galleon ship, space station complete with monorail etc) were costing around £70+. So bearing in mind inflation you'd expect prices to more than double in that time.

I know it seems expensive but it's a great product. There aren't many toys that are as customisable and to be fair thinking back now as an adult it is probably really good for promoting creativity in children. I know a lot of the scenes I built weren't strictly to the instructions, you could mix and match different sets to make enhancements etc.

Awesome awesome awesome!!! Oh wow it even has 4WD. Do. Want.

I was gonna ask if technic still says ages 11-16 on the box like the last set I bought. Pic confirms :D:p Dont worry you're not sad - I bet right under the 11-16 in smallprint it says 'or the adult collector', right ;).

Build thread please!

This is my project for next winter:
