Suicide biker today

Don't know if it's jealousy or just ignorance about filtering etc...

However, there are a lot of irresponsible riders, like the one in the OP's post which really do ruin the reputation of a motorbike riders.

Scuba must have got quite a fright - I know I've had bikers pull stupid stunts like that, and I (being a bike rider too) am always extra careful, so even looking out for them, doesn't mean they won't ride like idiots.

Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience - hope the biker learns from his mistakes before he does himself and someone else some damage or worse...

+1

Boils down to jealousy a lot of the time.. "Hes getting there quicker than I am!!!"

A bike can fit fine between cars so why should I sit in your traffic?

as for the OP - Very lucky you stopped, very bad judgement by the biker and very irresponsible.

Indeed, I don't advocate bad behaviour by bikers, but worse behaviour by car drivers to someone infinitely more vulnerable can never be excused.

It is almost always some inane response along the lines of what you said, it is regarded as queue jumping, which it clearly isn't as there is no "order to be served".

Same inane behavour happens on 2:1 merge in turns where idiots who move over early and leave one lane completely empty then get arsey when someone uses that space.

Was telling the Shell tanker driver about this clip at work today and he was telling me how not so long ago a bike went screaming past him well over 100mph and he had thought to himself, thats an accident waiting to happen. A few miles on he comes across a corsa on its roof and the biker hanging limply from a barbwire fence. The girl in the corsa aparently didn't see him coming as she pulled out of a side road as he came upon her so fast. Must have been one hell of an impact for a bike to have enough force to tip a car thats 4x it's weight.
I know a few people with bikes in my family/friends, one of which broke his back in a bike accident and he was very lucky to still be able to walk. All of them admit that a bike is for going fast and being a little bit silly at times, although most of them wouldn't be completely wreckless. My uncle is an idiot biker, boasting about his 3 figure average speed coming back from knockill at the last superbikes meet. Actually to be honest I don't know many sensible bikers.

A colleague of mine races motorbikes in one of the amateur series. By all accounts he's fast, albeit he doesn't win any races, but he is competetive. He told me that he reckons about 95% of accidents between cars and bikes are the bikers fault, which he claimed was a conservative estimate at it might be more like 99%. Other bikers at work agree with this estimate.

Ha, **** got real today..
Nearly melted thunderbird.

This is just since I've got home from work

Looking at the stats for both SFW and NSFW versions..
It's been embedded on "doctors.net" WFT... are they trying to get his details so they know where to go when they need some fresh organs. :D

Also noticed hits are coming from UK Starlet owners.. LOL a few of them think it's fake. Yea right, like I could pull that off without killing the biker in one take. :D Some people crack me up.

Next time, bleep out the swearies instead of making two videos :D

If I could work out how to do that on the crappy new "Windows Live Movie Maker" I would do..
There doesn't seem to be an audio line I can modify like the old version (before live)

This is the problem, these bikers are in the minority and they seem to think the highway code does not apply to them. I have seen far too many bikers do stupid things on the road. Doesn't bother me, they are much more squishy than me in the car, but it is a sad day when they do actually manage to take someone else with them.

Funny then how statistically I believe its a 60/40 split between whos at fault. The 60% not being the biker.

75% of Bike - Car accidents occur on urban roads, in 39% of cases the precipitating factor was the biker ... but in 61% of incidents the car driver was deemed to be at fault. ......... (So watch out, they really are out to get you).

The biker was at fault there, pure and simple. Well done for stopping.

What I would say to Scuba is that you seem to have a real inability to read the road. The 'cretin pulling out' video showed two examples of obstructions that were visible well ahead of your approach, yet you barely altered your speed to take into account of the developing hazard. You scream right up to both of them and only then do you really scrub off the speed.
Yes, in both cases the other driver was in the wrong, but you aren't helping the situation whatsoever.

There is a lot you can do to reduce the obvious stress driving/riding causes you, by adjusting your driving/riding style to become more aware of the isses as they arise.

This? ;

Yes, totally agree if so.

Please learn to read the road, slow down for hazards and stop expecting everything to bow down to your presence - more importantly.. *expect the unexpected*

Id dare say if things were flipped and you were on a bike then youd not last a day.

I had plenty of room to react should I have needed, Not only did I adjust my approach speed to coincide with the vehicle turning in, I saw the bloke pull out through the windows of the car turning in. I CHOSE not to slow down and had full intention of overtaking the bloke anyway as I could also see he was an old duffer and would have been driving at a snails pace.
Once I'd confirmed the opposite side of the road was indeed clear as I thought (bend was obscuring view to start with) I did exactly what I planned to do the second I saw it unfolding. So don't tell me I have an inability to "read the road"
