This is disgusting, someone will end up losing their lives because of this before any show of force from the police. There is no deterrent and no respect for people's property and businesses. All for what? This isn't about some gang leader being shot dead anymore.

I think you're somewhat correct. It looks like people have just gone out "on the rob" and to cause trouble because they saw other people doing it.
