Riots in Tottenham, London! (NO RACIST COMMENTS)

This is a disgrace, if the police don't have the balls to put this mob down they should send in the army, they take protecting the British people seriously (even if in this case they would need protecting from other British people, and I use the term people loosely)

The army will not deter crowds like what we are seeing.

Look no further than Northern Ireland. Heavily armed troops and police do not deter rioters.

have to agree send the army in. declare a curfew in the area anyone out gets lifted and a mandatory 12 month sentence

The Army is trained for war, not enforcing the law. I think it illegal to use the army against the countries own people. In the USA it is illegal to have the army on civilion us soil.

Cameron needs to hurry up and authorise some Level 3 hugging to stop this,or threaten to send in the Big Society volunteers.

No, this calls for sterner measures. He'll be announcing the Ring A Rioter initiative, because these people really just need somebody to listen to them...

Close... Anything East of High Street/Saltmarket is considered East End but you are just the wrong side of Cumbernauld Road to be "proper East" :p

Bloody north glasgowers eh? :)

i'm proper east in Carntyne

woner how long till we see gangs of muppets starting in Glasgow.

anyone fancy bringing the ocuk meet forward to tonight?

maybe meet outside the apple store around 11? hoodies optional

Stating to get a bit jittery now. Live in SE London and surrounded by Brixton, Peckham, Lewisham and Croydon - all of which have had their problems over the last two nights!

Get real.

No one has control. Government needs to act, he needs to come back from holiday and command government and committees and co-ordinate a response.
You mean you want the Prime Minister (read: not an autocratic president) to take control of the police (read: independent police) and start commanding them? Yeah, that's a good idea (read: not :p).

Edit: I just realised, maybe you expect this all to be solved by debating in an inquiry and pushing some paper around. In which case, sorry, you're right - the government does need to act.

Feel so sorry for the guy who owns the furniture store.

Reeves Corner. 140 years trading.

I'm absolutely sickened by all of this. I've spent the majority of my life helping and assisting the community in Croydon and it's just being trashed. :(

Lol, you guys are getting so mad. I would wager that the majority are Tory voters too. The bleeding irony..

I sympathies with the rioters. I see great tension in society, a lost and hopeless youth, people losing houses and businesses left and right; huge sweeping cuts resulting in all sorts of hardship, and I can at least understand why this type of thing is not only happening, but will become more and more prevalent over the coming years.
To think otherwise is imo very naive.

I hope you are joking...

Definitely the fault of the coalition government of the last 12 months. All of these were fine upstanding young citizens before being disenfranchised by the unholy alliance.

Dianne Abbot: "Community community, uh community community... community er community, community community. Community."

lololololol

You believe they are rioting in response to anything? They are rioting because they are mindless, idiotic thugs who think it's a "laugh".
Don't be so naive.

Right, so let's set fire to everything and bash the crap out of our home times.... that won't cause " people losing houses and businesses left and right; huge sweeping cuts resulting in all sorts of hardship" will it?

This has nothing to do with ******* cuts or anything else, it isn't even a riot.

IT IS LITERALLY CRIMINAL GANGS THAT HAVE DECIDED TO TEAM UP AGAINST THE POLICE, THAT IS ALL THIS IS, ITS A CRIME SPREE, NOT A RIOT, NOT A PROTEST
