Yeah we had a little laugh at that too when mentioned on the BBC News this evening. It was said in such a way as to be reassuring.

Seriously, people are losing their homes, the police are out-numbered and scared. We watched a clip earlier and they looked (quite rightfully) frightened.

I didn't say that they did, but the Met took advantage of the usual confusion that surrounds these situations. They would have known as soon as the suspect's gun was recovered that it hadn't been fired, but allowed the media to run wild with 'BRAVE OFFICER SHOT BY GANGSTA' and possibly unofficially encouraged it (as they did with De Menezes).
The Times led on that story and it was almost definitely leaked to them by the IPCC.
CO19 use them, presumably because there are many situations in London where you would want a bullet to be stopped by the first thing it hit.
It is if they do nothing of note. But if Cameron authorises the deployment of the army to crush any more nights of mass lawlessness then it'll be a big vote winner.
yep, more damage less penetration, so less risk to bystanders and the target gets put down faster.

I am just amazed how such civil disobedience can take place, on such scale, clearly not enough police, or lack of coordination.
Good on them.
They are doing it because they haven't been liberalised yet (i.e. losing all dignity, backbone, self pride, self belief and self worth) good on them.
