Toyo T1-R's

From what I've heard people say they are excellent in the dry, but the MX-5 is a light car and I guess that makes a difference?

THere are many many road tyres which are better in the dry and quite a few which are now better in the wet too.

For a starter the Conti CS3 is better at both!

On an MX5 I'd want tyres which improved the handling, feedback and dry grip, so I'd be buying AD08's or RS2's. :D

Only problem with the rainsport is the poor performance in the dry.

I think you will find that those are the now discontinued RainSport 1's.

The Rainsport 2's are a totally different tyre altogether, and have (according to numerous reviews) excellent performance in the dry, and untouchable performance in the wet.

I have yet to try them myself though, but if cheap enough then I might perhaps give them a go sometime.

CS3 isnt available in 15 inch and the AD08s are twice the price :p

Evo rated them 2nd:

Tbh even my rubbish current tyres have decent enough dry grip, its the wet where I lack the confidence and want something that wont let the back end go everytime i accelerate round a bend hah :D

Should have probubly said these are for a clio and will be used on track. No one seems tol have a review of the V12s on track, and the Paradas are just to soft (although super grippy). At £35 for a clio track tyre the T1Rs were ideal.

they are the rainsport 2's that were reviewed. I've got them on the front of my xsara, suits pretty well. They aren't the best tyres in the dry though, and they do lack feedback and a decent sidewall - i've now doubt the more expensive tyres are quite a bit better on bigger and heavier cars like the octavia used in the review.
