Reasonable force....whats his name did say outnumbered...so the alternative is beaten to death by the mob? Didn't Italy did something similar during a riot last December?

Automatic weapons with rubber bullets against metal bars, outnumbered 10 to 1. I say that's pretty good odds!

With the limited number of people, be it police or the army, trained to deal with crowd control it's impossible to control such a large area against such a massive mob. Throughout this thread I've stated that we need army support because of their numbers. Nothing else. We don't want armed troops walking about, we don't want rubber bullets, that isn't going to quell this. Sheer man power will.
Not one person has justified how any sort of 'weapon' will help, and people who have experienced these things have doubted their usefulness as well.

I haven't got a problem with you at all... I'm not sure where you are getting that from. Feel free to email me about it if you want. The only thing about you I dislike is your usage of DOF. But that's just artistic difference. I can't think of another time we've had a disagreement or anything that could be considered hostile. Paranoid much?
 
The police, well standing around everywhere is doing nothing, and helping no one, they need to be concentrating numbers, rather than send 20 cops to 300 locations, send 500 cops 12 locations and actually beat the living hell out of rioters, grab them and put them in, actually get the army in to "transport" arrested rioters to a location out of London somewhere, just anywhere out of the way for a day. 500 cops would clean up a location and grab a lot of rioters and, most important, make a proper bloody stand.

If the rioters actually fear being arrested(which they absolutely don't right now) less people will continue to join in, one location can be "cleared" and the 500 can get to a new location and clear that out.

This, 20 cops all over the place, without the man power to do anything is a complete waste of time and energy.

No the way it works is if the police use any excessive force in any way whatsoever then they are in the wrong.

I wouldn't blame the police for smashing their faces on the concrete repeatedly.

If you get involved in these riots and you end up with your face smashed in then it serves you right. People who criticised the police at the Student protests annoyed me beyond belief, they have no bloody idea.
 
BBC now reporting that the canisters in Clapham contain hydrogen, not helium. Imagine the Hindenburg disaster and then think of that happening to a residential block. Grim.

Trouble is the Police are afraid of being prosecuted too, they need proper powers.
