Morning all,

I've got a question for you all, I'm about to build up my spare rig to go downstairs on my 46" sony TV, it's ok specs:

Q6600
4Gig 800hz ram
650W PSU

But the only thing letting it down is the graphics card being a Geforce 9600GT,

This is not going to be my main rig for games as I have a good spec PC upstairs it's this is only going to be used as a media PC really,

So whats going to give me the best bang for pound that could also play games if wanted, I'm thinking as cheap as possible.

Many Thanks

How much money do you want to spend? Would you consider a second had card?

Assuming you want a new card then would consider

~£75 - AMD 5770
~£110 - NV 460 GTX
~£130 - AMD 6870

Yea about £125 -£130 being my limit, have not thought about a second hand one I will have to look into it, other than E-Bay where's a good place for second hand one's thats goign to work??

For media e.g. Bluray playback I recommend AMD cards (better colour, but don't troll me on this cuz this is just personal feeling, not pro measures). I bet there might be a reason for Apple to use AMD cards there.

+1 on the 5770.

What games would you play on a 46" TV?

hmmm, a mix of games really, fallout 3, titan quest, COH, nothing to demanding as I have the better pc upstairs.

i have spare pc similar to yours clocked q6600 to 3.6 ghz and sicked 4870 1 gig there does fine job , 5770 similar performance uses less power then 4870 and has dx11 support so it would be perfect.

get a second hand 8800GTX - i stll use one with a reasonably similar spec and it still plays practically everything at practically max settings. I think you can pick them up for 40£ now as well!
