Anyone know some good free MMORPG games

Of those mentioned, Guild Wars is a one time payment deal (was £15 for the complete edition on Steam recently - even normal price for original and 3 expansions is only £30), while for Lord Of The Rings Online (and slightly less easily for Dungeons & Dragons Online) you can experience the whole game without paying a penny. I hear that in Age of Conan free players are very restricted, but I am not sure about the other games.

Even for LOTR it is worth subscribing for 1 month (10 quid or so) as this lifts a huge number of restrictions on your characters which otherwise you would have to earn in-game points to remove., which while do-able would be very tedious.

One major factor in deciding between GW / LOTR / DDO is that while GW is nowadays winding down multi-player due to the upcoming GW2, LOTR and DDO still are very active.

Oh and you might like to check out League of Legends also, which while not actually a MMORPG frequently appeals to many of the same players:

Life.
All free MMORPG's are VERY generic, the only one that is different is RS (Imo), but that's an awful game.
Maple story is.... Tedious.

If you plan to play any F2P seriously you are probably going to have to put money into it. Playing for free doesn't make the publishers money so they all have ways to incentive people to pay for extras. Some are better then others and less intrusive in the general gameplay.

Not anymore. There more to them then the cut and paste Korean MMO that used to be the case.

Maple Story has been very well improved with the last few updates.

Leveling is a lot easier with the personalized dungeons and quest areas, and there is lots of different content to play, although you have to kill stuff the same way all the time.

I'm going to start pulling hairs if someone else mentions LoL in a mmo thread.

I can recommend dungeons and dragons online, there are some limitations in the free version that are apparent before you even enter the world. There's a grand total of FOUR races you can't choose.

I'm not sure what else is limited but I'm playing for free and having fun.

The first levels plays much like every other MMO.
Like he said, the early game in any mmo can be described as tedious - its usually just a tutorial segment to ease you into the game.

If you find questing in wow boring, how about a mmo that focuses on other areas? Rift has "rifts" that spawn enemies into the game as a regular occurence, this keeps the game feeling new and fresh.

Thats just one example of a mmo that isnt just "go to the forest and kill 10 boars" repeated over and over. I'm sure there are more that people can suggest.

Used to be true but now we have quality free mmo's like lord of the rings online, dungeons and dragons online and age of conan. I'd stump up for the subscription for any of these.

No offence but you cannot say AoC is a 'quality' game, the graphics are good yes but there are so many flaws in the game its unreal.

You cant realy call AoC a FTP game either, the cash store prices are a joke and incredibly overpriced compared to Turbine and other cash stores.

The idea with cash stores is to price things so low that everyone can buy them and the developers make a lot of money from all the micro purchases. Funcom simply dont have a clue, or they've never played a single FTP MMO.

Is AoC now Free? if so may log again and see how me old guild is going on there ..in its heyday The Immortals was one of the really top guilds on there.

Pity I lost touch with them when I moved the web site to a new location :(..(well I had being away for over a year as well)

...Opps meant to add I would say try Lotro its a much better game than what it gets credit for!
