Hatred towards police?

What is it with many young Londoners who say they 'hate the pigs'. The number of people who say they hate the police with no real reason behind it.

The troubles at the moment involve many people who just don't like the police.

Are these people missing a side of their brain or something? I really can't get my head around it.
 
It's cool to hate.

Also, hatred of stuff can unite a group or community with nothing better to do or look forward to in their lives. Nice having a common 'enemy'.
 
The only people that 'hate the police' are people that have had run-ins with them because they are dodgy characters.

Normal people have nothing against them :)
 
I dont hate the police but I feel very disappointed in the pathetic way they are handling the riots.

The only thing I have against the police is that when they actually have to do something for you, they are next to useless. The police only seem to be effective against people that actually care for the law, for people that dont give a **** about the law then it seems they think its a lost cause and dont bother.
 
It's the cool thing to say, innit bro. The trouble is that some of these sad idiots believe it. You can’t really expect much more from low life.
 
People hate the police because the police stop them doing things they want to do, but that annoying thing called 'the law' gets in the way of.
 
The line between the police and the army is starting to become more blurred. (Massively over the top statement but its the general theme from what I can gather).

Basically we've all (in the main land) had the impression that the police are there to protect and serve us, but the way they have been acting for the last 10 or so years they are developing into a force to protect and serve the state (which really is the army's roll).

From my view the police over here has become more and more like the PSNI with guns, permanent riot gear and a general image that the public has no legitimate reason to disagree with the state and express that in any form. So where if the police were sensible to the odd protest and didn't stop and search people like they were all terrorists there probably would be less resentment towards the police over here, but instead the over the top reactions we've all watched on tv have provoked more long term problems and not defused the short term.
 
The police are the face of the establishment. If you got a grudge to bare they get targeted.

My thoughts exactly, if we had none though I'm sure people would go beat up those jerks who hate the police :rolleyes:
