Was passing through woolwich today and thought I'd take a look at the aftermath of last night's riots. Quite a lot of damage here, and it's getting worryingly close to my area. :(

Finding this whole situation hard to comprehend... it seems to be mindless bored summer holiday kids tagging on to a legitimate protest....

****!!!!

This is the next town along from me. :(

Its very sad :( they invested a lot of money into Woolwich to regen for the Olympics and since the DLR opened.

It makes me sad and angry.

Do you have these in a photobucket?

It's tragic seeing it in the cold light of day - so sad :(

A lot of areas near me have also been affected, driving through some of the areas today was quite eerie. Didn't have time to take pictures unfortunately.

It's so senseless. Millions of pounds worth of damage for nothing! :(

Well that phone places shutter was very effective..
Don't think there's much that can stop gangs of thugs armed with hammers and pickaxes

I'm not even sure if it was a legitimate protest in the first place tbh

It's crazy - all that money invested for nothing :(. I don't have them in photobucket but can send you a link to the whole gallery with a lot more photos in trust if you want.

This is why I'll never live in a big city - moved away from London 22 yrs ago - best thing I ever did.

My nan lived in Woolwich and Lewisham.

Im appalled and stunned at what has happened. I grew up in and around London and always thought this country was civilized enough to resist breaking down into mindless violence. I think personally we should break out the army, tear gas, batons and push them back. They cant be allowed to carry on like this.

Despite this, I love london far too much to move. These riots happened in loads of places anyway, not just london.

I've just dropped you an email as I'd be interested in seeing these.

I was in Woolwich on Sunday night and despite growing up there I've never felt so much of an outsider as I did that night. The hostility was visible but it didn't occur to me at the time that a riot was brewing.

I'd be happy to see looters shot by either the police, the army or the shopkeepers themselves.

Agreed. I just got back from bluewater and the atmosphere isn't very nice to say the least - they were already preparing barricades outside the shopping centre. No signs of violence as of yet though.
