No they have failed themselves, if they put as much effort into education and personal developement, as they do smashing the place up and looting. They would have a better life.

It takes no effort what so ever to loot and smash things

It takes a considerable amount of effort to work hard and achieve good results in the schools that are provided for these people, and a considerable amount of luck to not be born into poverty that makes further or personal education out of reach.

It probably won't happen to the same extent tonight but it will happen every few weeks now, as despite everyone moaning about racism, what this actually is is Black Gangs vs the 'Feds', along with a load of other wannabe gangsters.

It is nothing to do with poverty, tory cuts, or anything else.

Funny how black 'community' leaders blame it on 'police racism' and then in the next sentence say 'its not just blacks'.... well you excuse for it sort of implies that it is?

No just no, stop making it sound like its so simple.

It isn't.

During the Egypt looting communities formed neighborhood watch patrols. I am surprised that in the 'close knit' communities in London no-one has done the same. Not saying it would have stopped all the looting, but it might have helped.

I suppose we have Insurance over here though, in Egypt a lot of home/shop owners probably didn't.

This isnt simply their fault, sure it mostly is, but there are several problems with them doing things by themselves, the education system is far to strict in its association of tests to knowledge and general intelligence, people become very disillusioned with the idea and the teachers nowadays simply dont help.

They seem to only teach from books rather than knowledge, i really miss the days when you sat down to someone who knew his stuff...rather than someone who has a book in front of them.

Ever think that you maybe don't have much real world experience? I'm not really sure this is anything to do with they fact that teachers teach from books...

By total luck on their part they chose the perfect time to cause a bit of mayhem. Government overseas, police are demoralized with no comissioner, school holidays.

Need to make sure the country keeps going, I really think we should fight this with live rounds, this is not Syria, we are a liberal democracy, these people have flats, benefits, and other material items, they are "looked" after.

This cannot go on and there needs to be a deterrent.

Im not sure much else would "deter" this lot, cannot see words working.

Through what? The rioters didn't break a police line because there wasn't one. There wasn't one because there was no point in having one because this wasn't a march on Parliament or the like. This is a mindless rabble intent on causing destruction, robbery and violence wherever they like. Rubber bullets wouldn't have stopped this anything more than a strip of police tape around a few lampposts.

yes it would

anyone looting, get shot

anyone attacking police , get shot

anyone throwing bricks, fire bomes etc , get shot

What's the situation with the Nottingham game tonight? I have read on here the two sets of fans grouping together if anything starts. I'm a little concerned if it spreads to Derby, only a short distance away and the DLF (if that's what the are called nowadays) might see this as an opportunity to head to Nottingham or vice-versa or at least search out some potential rioters in Derby. Copycat effect, if it starts in Notts it could start in Derby.

All London jail cells are full to maximum capacity.....
There's a ton of space in the ape enclosures at various zoos around the country, hold them there till we can put them all on a boat and sink it.

No its not simply that, it was an example of sorts.

Education is just faulty at the moment, really needs more practical work going into the teaching.

Im pleased that apprenticeships are increasing by companies, its a much more on hands approach.

This is part of the problem. This just shows peoples belief that they deserve something. Yes, teachers should teach (and teach they do, the idea they just sit you down with a book is absurd) but it is also up to the pupils to want to learn. I remember getting my parents to buy me educational books because I wanted knowledge and wanting to learn. I went to school and challenged my teachers and had debates on topics. This all added to my learning.
Education isn't a passive thing, you can't learn much by just absorbing which seems to be what you want. People need to appreciate the value of education and be wanting to pursue it independently.
Very off topic though!

I think parenting is more of an issue than schooling.
