Right, heres the deal:

I'm not made of money, im a student and i need to replace a piece or two on my current computer so i can play things like skyrim etc.

Heres the system so far:

4gb OCZ DRR2 ram
Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 "LGA775 Conroe" 3.00GHz (1333FSB)
8800GT

Now the graphics card is on the way out so im thinking of replacing it but i dont know what card to get that will be relitively cheap and wont be bottlenecked by the CPU, im thinking something like an ATI HD5850?

Otherwise i may have to replace the CPU which isnt ideal but if its the only choice then i will have to live with it.

So guys, any ideas, thoughts? Bare in mind im a student and my money is important elsewhere untill i finish my degree but i still love my games :( Im wanting to spend no more than £150 as a absolute high limit and would be more comfortable around the 100-120 mark.

Cheers! :D

for £150 I imagine most people will say get either a GTX460 or a 5850 and a 2nd hand Q6600. Not sure what Q6600s go for now but you could knock the GPU down to a 5770 if you didn't have enough.

yea i realise its just a quick fix for now but money dictates for the time being so its good to know i can update on the cheap.

Buying a used Q6600 was something i was considering, id love to be able to afford a 460GTX along side it but i dont think thats too realistic

Used 460GTX £90 used Q6600 £60 Do the math! :p

Also what mobo have you got? You will need to clock the Q6600 to 3.2ghz to see any real world benefit
