Hatred towards police?

So you've never driven through a red light camera? Those things are counter productive. But you do agree they are pretty useless?

I haven't? I do? What?

Bit of stretch isn't it? riots > police hatred > harassment > red light camera

May be it's a form of chaos theory.

You'd have to be an idiot to drive through a red light camera. It's quite simple, if the light is on red, you stop

I dont hate the police but I feel very disappointed in the pathetic way they are handling the riots.

seriously ???? !!! its not the police's fault

Scenario 1 - Police get stuck in, full riot gear and seriously batter the thugs, looters and rioters using all force and tools in their repertoire. Next day the headlines in the press are 'BRUTAL BRITAIN - THE NEW POLICE STATE' . Then the haters start hating more and decide to riot again because they beleive the press when they state that Britain is on the fast track to becoming a fascist police state

Scenario 2 - Police stand back, apply a bit of toughness when possible but generally try and use a more softly softly approach so they don't get their balls removed by the IPCC and end up having officers in court facing charges of breach of human rights. Next day headlines in press - SOFT TOUCH BRITAIN - Police are ineffective. Then the looters and thugs go woohoo its pay day the police are pussies lets ransack the whole city.

seriously WTF do you want them to do. What ever they do they will end up losing. G20 they go in hard and the public accuse them of brutality. Student riots they go a bit softer and public accuse them of being ball-less.

I blame the politicians for not having a sack and getting the police to properly handle this riot

My main problem is the attitude of the police some times rather than feeling you're able to approach them you feel as though their sizing you up as a potential assailant and that scares you off talking to them plus the fact (around my area at least) you hear about burgleries, stabbings and the like where the police don't turn up until at least an hour after it's happened or they turn up and wait for said crime to be commited before moving in then you hear about minor drug offences and traffic incidents where they're on the scene in seconds it's disgraceful.

I don't like the police if im honest, I've been very disappointed with the way they have acted in the past when our area needed them.

They have also treated my brother like dirt for 18 months, almost costing him his job and having him banned from the town centre for no reason, even after the charges against him were laughed out of court.

The only people that 'hate the police' are people that have had run-ins with them because they are dodgy characters.

Normal people have nothing against them :)

This.

I have nothing but the greatest respect for the police force and what they do.

Except when they park their mobile speed cameras on the side of the road.:p

Many people in poorer areas have been hassled by the police for things like drug possession so it's understandable that they have a hatred towards them, what is supposed to be a force for good has turned into something that is seen as something that does the governments bidding.

This x10000000

Im a normal person and have nothing against them. Been pulled over a few times by traffic cops and if you're nice to them, they're nice to you. I appreciate the police greatly.

people getting hassled for possessing drugs...
it is terrible - what these poor folks have to endure...

I am sorry Drug Possession is a criminal act. If you don't want the police to hassle you then don't go out on to the street with Drugs.

That was a seriously weak sauce excuse you conjured up there. And the police are there to do the governments bidding. The government sets the laws, the police enforce them, again what's the problem ?

I've had run ins with them when I've done nothing wrong I've just been passing by places that crimes have taken place been presumed guilty until proven innocent by a search almost every time I've been told "I Match the Description" they've been given and when I ask them for it they say "We can't hand out that Information" at which point I'm like WTF what if i've seen said youths and can point you in their direction somthing I actually did one time and they still didn't listen Grr They drive me spare.

Not the police around here, might as well call the ghostbusters.. I called them once about some neighbours kicking off, one wielding a baseball bat and the other a pipe. Was told that unless something really happened they were not going to come.. they got here 1hr after the ambulance left.

When my dad was mugged and beaten, they arrived 3hrs after and were not really interested when they found it was turkish muggers and it probably was not racially motivated.

A domestic incident a few houses down ended up with the lady losing sight in one eye, other neighbours called the police when the beating was happening, they got here about 45mins later.

Oh yea, its a whole 1.1 miles away.

Nothing more wrong with possessing cannabis than alcohol which I'm sure you do along with most other people. It's victimless in any case and wrong for then police to infringe on others liberties for it, not to mention hypocritical.

The police are there to serve and protect, not to be the governments army against the people, big difference.

I have no problem with the police, certainly no hatred, however whenever we have required their assistance in the past it has been lacking.
