Watching the news yesterday and it's just incredible how on the same day you have thousands of mothers crossing deserts with their sick children to escape war, rape and pillaging, with some making it to struggling refugee camps; http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-14468669

...you also have people who are privaliged enough to live over here where it's safe and life is easy in comparison, who are choosing to loot and burn peoples homes and livelihood for no reason other than they can and fancy a new pair of shoes.

Serious question, how comes the news is reporting that London was calm last night?
There was big trouble in ladbroke grove W10.
The churchill gardens estate SW1V had gangs of kids smashing up stuff and burning bins and attempted shops on lupus st.
Burnt Oak got smashed up and had a building burnt down (irony?)

I'm sure that there were more incidents but these are the only ones I have witnessed first hand or directly from a friend who was there.

Is it to stop giving youths air time (don't know why they focused on Manchester) or because the embarrassment of the 16000 police not stopping the youths actions dead?

I just had a call form a member of our staff from a shop in Chelsea saying that a very young hooded guy was taking a picture of the shop front with his camera phone. I enquired whether she was sure it was our shop, she verified & said it was directly pointing at 'us'.

Would you be worried?

Nice top.

Ah appears genuine then.

MeEsH - I think it's because in general, it was much quieter than the previous nights, plus the trouble elsewhere in the country kind of overshadowed anything that did happen in London, taking the focus elsewhere.

Simples. News blackout, in an attempt to make the rioters think the city was quiet overall, and therefore not encourage more rioting / publicity.

Pretty sure that Cobra can call in a news blackout if needs be.

My Brother passed the JD Sports shop on Holloway Road yesterday and they threw a bunch of kids out because they were doing a 'recee' of the store, to see where everything was and what they wanted to steal.

Store didn't get hit, so it's all down to the mob rioting now I think. They need the huge numbers to be able to do the big looting and I think with the current Police numbers, those have been squashed out.
