So I ordered my rig from OCuk and im hoping it will be with me tomorrow.

I intend on overclocking to around the 4.8Ghz mark but only if cooling is sufficient.

But there is one thing I am a little unsure of and that is do I have to run the processor in for a period of time before overclocking?

My intention was to run it at stock speed for a few weeks then bump it up to 4Ghz. After that I intend to move it up by increments of 0.2Ghz every couple of weeks so I can monitor temperatures properly and find a happy place :)

The cooler I will be using by the way is a Antec Kúhler H2O 920 High Performance Liquid CPU Cooler

Cheers

ye start clocking straight away.

you can do all your testing in one day

that cooler should be fine for a 4.8 clock. temps will not be great but with-in spec

You'll be very unlucky if you don't get 4.6. I'd advise though that instead of jumping straight into the overclock on day 1, it might be better to run the system for a few days-1 week just to make sure that everything is working and stable at stock first. That way should you run into any issues when clocking, you can be confident that it's certainly down to settings and not any hardware faults.

Will do this... Thanks :)
