He (Mark Duggan) was mixed race and he wasn't just shot he was killed and not just by anyone but by people of the law (police). They did also claim he shot at them thus their reason for shooting back but ballistic test show that is not the case.

The initial crowd who demonstrated for answers for Mark Duggan's death were peacful and were multiracial but predominately black.

A rumor spread that a girl got beaten up by the police which is partially true but she was no angel rather she was being arrested. From then tensions flared, trouble makers influenced the crowds the peaceful people ran home, clashes with police began.

People could see that police attention was being focused on the high street so many began looting elsewhere and the news didn't help they made this clear attracting people from around London to join in.

This created confidence for criminal opportunists who began to use blackberrys, twitter, facebook etc to plan new places to loot and from there it just spread to what has happened in the last few days.

As you see more complex than ''black person was shot right''.

Show me where the Police said Mark Duggan fired a weapon.

It is a deliberate tactical ploy by groups such as the BNP and EDL who know they can use social media and the internet to swell their numbers by having an active cell presence. It is the simular propagation device to the way evangelical christians operate. They are encouraged at a congregational level to 'take part' in communities such as these.

The thing is though, what defines a racist remark in this case?

"I just saw on the news all the people rioting were black and all the people cleaning up were white..."

That is probably what a lot of people are seeing and then it provokes remarks like that, I don't think it is being directly racist.

Saying things like -

"There are no black people in my area so we are safe from riots..."

Is more openly racist.

If you believe that someone has made a racist comment (or indeed anything else that is against the rules) then please RTM it, the moderators cannot and will not see every post made on the forums so it helps them also to see what people think is unacceptable behaviour from other members. This is a fast moving thread so comments may get missed quite easily, however it's worth remembering that just because you disagree with something and report it doesn't mean that action will always be taken - it will be looked at though and then a judgement taken on whether a response is required.
