Riots in Tottenham, London! (NO RACIST COMMENTS)

They need public humiliation. They are all so image conscious and set on being "cool" that they need to be shown for the pathetic little scrotes that they are.

I propose all those found guilty of looting/rioting are put in stocks at Trafalgar square. The government buys stockpiles of rotten fruit or maybe even stockpiles of the rubbish that these scumbags have spilt everywhere. They then invite the whole country to come down to Londo, and for the small sum of £3 one can throw a whole heap of crap in their faces.

Whilst in the stocks (for a week minimum) they are fed bread and water three times a day.

This way, everyone gets their own back, the looters are publicy humiliated, and the government gets some money back to pay for the repairs. Also, the lefty liberal idealist idiots can't complain because no one is getting hurt.

Sorted

P.S. i would pay a tenner to do this so they could probably charge more!

There is not enough information in that video for me to form an opinion. Having a scrap someone so you can arrest someone is one thing, kicking them when they are on the floor when they can't move is another but the camera seems to move, so you can't see what they are doing when he is down.

Which video exactly? The guy tripping over pavement/getting head hit maybe a bit aswell?

Even if not watch that video, just because a guy is on the ground doesn't mean he's an easy target or subdued. Thats why police need superior numbers, take down, couple to hold him down and one to cuff, even then a cuffed person can do some damage quite easily.

The guy who did go down, a cop went to hold him down or maybe smack him again, the guy kicked him and got back up quite easily, for every guy they hit who gives up, another guy pretends to give up then hurts an officer when they try to restrain him.

End of the day, they are police, and paid, but the policemens safety comes first, no one wants to be hit by a baton, and hopefully few innocent people do end up hurt, but thats life, more often than not someone the police try to subdue is going to be a criminal or a suspect.

Its not nice, it would be great if society didn't need cops to use force, but while we have criminals I fully back the cops right to make sure a guy is down, hard, and restrained with minimal risk to the cop himself.

Thats generally why innocent people should stop going out to watch whats going on and stay the **** out the way/at home.

Then they'll just turn to crime.

I do agree, I'd love for them to receive nothing but sadly it's not realistic. I'd love to see them all be shot too, but that's not going to happen either.

As opposed to turning to crime and still getting benefits?

Actually, what you said is ridiculous, pay them benefits so they don't commit crime, think about what you are saying, it is laughable.

No, two guys on bikes get knocked over by police, then something that looks like kicking happens when the bikes are on them, but then camera moves. So can't really tell what was going on.

It's just been announced on Sky that Manchester has secured the first two convictions for rioting. A ten week and a sixteen week sentence!

Not long enough disgusting. What hapened to David Cameron saying they will see the full force of the law hes full of hot air.

We shouldn't be subjecting our troops with morons like we've seen.

And - THAT'LL TEACH THEM! ARGH!!!

The learn 'em was a joke that I've heard on this forum many a time. How about segregate the morons into their own regiment then they will have to perform well to survive..

There are jobs to take, they just don't pay much more than benefits when you consider the second you work you have to start paying all the taxes and then even rent too. It's not like they can go from £70/week jobseekers to £200/week jobs and actually see £200/week. It's more like from £70/week doing nothing to £100/week working a hard 40hours per week.

To them, they'd rather have £70 and no job than £100 and no time.

It's a problem we've had for a long time and it's rarely ever looked at.

I'd say a large percentage of those on jobseekers and incapacity frauds are staying on them because of this fact.

This is true.

An ex-colleague found he got paid similar amount staying in as a 24/7 dad than work his part time shifts (due to looking after baby). For him its a no-brainer really.

Is it just me or is there an upsurge in public support for the police amongst the law abiding public since all this kicked off? That at least has to be a good thing.

Hopefully this is the start of a big push for law & order and restoring respect for the police in general. Police need to be able to do their job properly and effectively while knowing they have support from the top.

Last time I heard a kid shouting "you can't touch me, ******* copper" I just wanted the officer to give him a good slap but knew it would never happen. :(

Cut red tape, cut paperwork, give the police the authority and freedom they need to do their job properly permanently, not just for the duration of these riots. No more toothless tigers! :p

All IMHO of course.

They're already on (what you'd hope to be legally entitled) benefits, can you honestly believe any politician would remove them?

I actually said I agree with you, I did not say pay them so they don't commit crime, I'm giving reasons why those with the power to do so will not remove the benefits.

From YouGov:

Asked if the police should be able to use various tactics in response to riots provoked some pretty gung ho responses – 90% of people thought they should be able to use water cannon, 84% mounted police, 82% curfews, 78% tear gas, 77% thought that the army should be brought in, 72% tasers, 65% plastic bullets, 33% live ammunition.

Edited slightly to make it more logically organised, no reason to put the 77% one at the end.
