This chip any good?

A friend is breaking up his computer (some of you may remember the thread I made about buying it) and has offered me that chip with the Asus Crosshair V for a reasonable used price.

1) Will I see a noticable difference going from a PII X3 710 (OC to 3ghz) to this in day to day tasks?
2) Is the unlocked multiplier like that of the Intel K series? and as easy to OC?
3) Will I notice the extra 2mb L2 cache?
4) Is there an X4 chip that will unlock to this level of X6?
5) Will a cheaper X6 (1055 for example) match this when OC'ed?

Sorry if the above is utterly noobish, but I am just a noob in the grand scheme of things.

Its not worth it, keep your money for a Sandybridge system or Ivy bridge.

Stop wasting money on a dead horse.

1) Not really in day to day such as word processing, but definitely in gaming or video conversion.
2) Yes, it's really easy to overclock, won't push to 5Ghz like Intel but you could get a solid 4Ghz.
3) Probably just notice all the extra performance boost, but not the cache on it own.
4) No.
5) No, the 1055 isn't a black edition so it has a locked multiplier, meaning it will not overclock as well.

I just found a thread which helped a lot on this as its pretty much the same thing I posted :PP

Thanks for the replies, Im just going to have to buy a 1155 board and wait, then the 25/600k which ever is cheaper at the time and then DDR3 RAM :(
Terrible at saving, so I cant even wait for Ivy to come out before I buy the mobo and ram :PP

And sorry Stu....Ill come to the other side now and stop asking stupid questions :D

It's not really a dead horse, a 1100T is still extremely capable of current and future gaming.

Its not worth it at all, the OP doesn't need to be buying a 1100T and a board, I bet if he told me the sale price I could suggest a faster i5 cpu and motherboard.

Yeah. I was reading another thread just before where the guy already had the board. Got them confused. You're right +1

About 15% cheaper than a 2500k (OCUK selling price).

If I went intel, Id have to go 25/600k, unless I come across a stupid cheap 1155 CPU to tide me over until Ivy is released and base my next buy on that.

Ill shush now *goes sits in corner and crosses fingers for the next 3 hours for the compo*

Seeing as we don't know how BD is going to turn out & your going to upgrade right now & needing to change the mobo anyway.
