Been as its your dads car, it seems the best and easiest way to start your "cheap" 911 ownership

Well the rear is same as the S versions, being the wider body, which does help the looks in my opinion, but yes this does help, and has warranty on the engine for another 18 months (OPC) as the previous one blew up :S

Nice purchase and I'm sure you'll love it though tiptronic does sap it quite a bit in my eyes but it's still many leagues on compared to a Mondeo. If it's not had a geo done I strongly suggest this as 911's are all about the setup.

I have met 5 people in person who own 911s, 3 of whom have had them blow up, the other 2 are you and Gibbo.

Hardly any GT3's blow up though oddly the 997 GT3 RS seems to suffer from RMS issues which have never impacted GT3 owners typically. Several friends who run them have had more than 1 RMS issue. Whilst 911's like all cars have their blow ups I assure you the percentage is small in my much more extensive experience. You tend to find however that when a 911 goes pop it's owner likes to tell the entire world.

Nothing, car was faultless in 20k miles.

The internet would have you fear its far worse than it actually is.

996 Carrera had a weak IMS and prone to RMS seal leaks.

The 2005 model 997 improved on this slightly but its still quite a risk.

The 2006 model 997 had an uprated IMS, so less likely to be an issue but can still occur.

2008 DFI cars removed the IMS, no longer an issue.

Turbo and GT3 cars don't tend to suffer, most only die from miss gear shifts on track days.

Nice, looked good at the RR meet, autobox seemed to suck a tad more power than you expected though as it came pretty close to the bhp my Boxster S made.

I'm gonna sound like a total idiot here but what does Targa actually mean and where does it fit in the 911 range?
