**** Original Starcraft 2 Thread ****

9 wins and 2 losses today - up to 3rd in my bronze league.

can't be far away from a promotion as I've beaten 4 silver and 2 gold players in that 9 wins.

Amazes me how some of them get into silver and gold - some of the play has been awful!!! Real school boy stuff

silver isnt much harder then bronze tbh.
gold steps it up a little but not much really.
depends aswell as some stuff in the higher leagues that go on dia/masters that iv done/seen can come across as amateurish but in fact wins games. (ie weird unconventional walling etc)

this was things like - a zerg attacked my mineral line with about 6 muta's. I had one missile tower there. They carried on just attacking scv's and not the missile tower and lost all 6 of their muta's to one tower!!! Gold player!!

Man I'm getting stomped this season, is it just me or has it got harder all of a sudden? Sitting in low diamond and facing mainly plat players but they're so much better than just a few weeks back. Or maybe I've got worse :)

I've heard of a few people moving down the ladder from where they were before, few diamonds getting placed in plat etc. I wouldnt worry :)

Also I should be online again from tomorrow if you want to continue our 2v2 rampage

another 3 victories and top of bronze now.

I've learned a lot about not panicking when i get attacked early on etc. It's not rocket science but i used to panic and not think thru what I was doing - also scouting has improved and rather than sticking to a single build, i now have 3 or 4 dependant on enemies race and their build order.

Still bronze but feel that at least I'm improving!!!

Awesome, always good to feel like you've made progress with this game. I find one of my greatest weaknesses is panicking when i see any number of units, especially when roaches are involved! :p

I swear i played the Terran idrA today, he GG'd a won game.
His main was mined out, fully saturated natural, could have easily setup third and had 12 more workers than me. His army supply was much larger with mix of Thors/Hellions/Marines/Medivacs and i had Lings/Banes/Mutas and about 20 supply less of army. And my main was mined out and natural and third were barely saturated due to getting raped.

Also got my best burrowed baneling bust yet today, was beautiful.

haha - i love roaches attacking because I tend to favour heavy maurder builds which do a lot of damage versus roaches.

Also it's amazing what a single raven can do against zerg in terms of helping massacre the creep spread by detecting it. at least a single raven in my army all the time these days.

What the heck, I come back from a while of not playing, and am against a Zerg who one-base mutas. He almost killed me early on but I got blink researched just in time so that I could get my stalkers back into my base (I tend to wall off against Zerg), pushed him off, then used lots of cannons to prevent harassment. Then we turtled up, I expanded, he never even tried. I was just building up loads of stalkers and phoenixes, then stuck down a dark shrine and used a warp prism to transport 4 DTs into his base which killed everything as he had no detection at all, and my army killed his when he all-ined since he had no way to save his base.

Then check his profile and he's rank 21 in gold division, and I'm ranked 35th in my bronze o.o

Sounds like someone who learned a build and does it every game. Then when it fails they have no idea what to do :p

In lower leagues you find a specfic player's skill level varies from game to game, depending on whether they choose to follow a build from liquipedia or try to freestyle.

Roach + Zergling, late game add broodlords.

Infestors can also help against mass hellions and neural parasiting Thors, but's it's a more risky unit build.

Lings are fairly useless it seems when he has enough hellions.

Guess i'll have to try hold to late game to get BLs

Question of questions, what's the best way to get 'better' at the game? I'm currently in Bronze, and use my own 'build' which is basically pretty standard, build probes, gateways, robo early for observers scouting, then either get a robo bay for giraffes or go air for carriers. I watch day9s vids to try and absorb useful things, and its working to an extent, especially the Daily #252?
But often when I play I've got this list of things I need to do, build probes, chronoboost, watch over there, build pylons (The 18 pylon is the bane of my life!)

I know what I need to be doing, but its just doing all the macro that I can't quite keep up with. I know most of its just a case of learning through repetition, the more I do the better I'll be at it, but are there any general tips that would help?
