His guys,

I bought an iPhone off a friend at work that is locked to Orange. I take it there is no cheaper/quicker method to getting this unlocked than paying Orange £25 and waiting between 10-24 for the unlock happen? Its mad considering o2 take a day and do it for free.

I wouldn't mind going with Orange but their payg deals are awful. Can you negotiate payg deals? I planned on getting a giff gaff sim.

Cheers

Any help is appreciated

Andy

eBay normally have a wide range of codes for a wide range of phones. With this being iPhone 4? I think they might be many unlock codes for sale and things on eBay.

Check them out, but expect to pay between £8-£15

:)

Pay Orange to do it. That is the best way. It's not worth the hassle doing it any other way, nor would you save much money.

An iPhone unlock is done by the network sending a request to Apple who send the auth code back down through iTunes. Network unlocks for standard phones just work off challenge/auth responses to SIM cards from other networks. Theoretically it should be possible by an Ebay seller but iPhones are special etc...
