Hi I dont post on this part of the forum, but hope you guys can help.

I was issued a VDRS in Feb this year, due to a loose chain on my motorbike.

I accepted the VDRS and got the issue rectified within the required 14 days. I posted the stamped VDRS back to the police.

Today I got a court summons regarding the incident.

I've got a photocopy of the stamped VDRS with a copy of the MOT certificate and also receipt of the work done. These copies are photos because I sold the bike last month (which is lucky I kept copies).

What should I do? I think I should plead not guilty surely?!

By the way, a VDRS is a scheme which is an alternative to a court summons as long as you get the issue sorted within 14 days. Someone correct me if I'm wrong there....

Goto the Court, take your proof and plead not guilty.

I have had similar hassle with a similar situation, it was easily resolved by doing the above.

:)

I'm currently in a mess due to royal mail losing a guilty plea of mine regarding a driving offense (traffic signal related, I hold my hands up to the offense entirely). Convienienlty the guilty plea had my drivers license included for endorsement, meaning they can't endorse me at the 2nd hearing either. Useless twunts.

That's reassuring.

The really annoying thing is that I had a different situation a year ago with the police, when I had a penalty issued to me for missing an L-plate on the rear. They never gave me the original fine (it was never sent to me) and then I got a court summons with a huge fine for not paying. Needless to say I made a statement thingy in court and it got put back to the police. The system can be so annoyingly disorganised! /Rant
