Good budget active sub?

I would like your suggestions on a good punchy, tight, home cinema active sub that lives at the budget end of the scale.

I currently have a yamaha and to be honest it just farts and hums the low tones out, it has no real definition.

What do you rate? :)

Smart money would go with a BK gemini second hand, the cheapest new sub even worth owning is : Wharfedale SW150. So you will be spending £150 either way unless you find a second hand SW150. Keep in mind you will grow out of a cheaper sub very quickly if you start getting into home cinema.

edit: as mentioned above the ms309 is also good but they are pretty old now and the plate amps are prone to failure, mine died after 5 years.
